I got to school at around 8:00. I went and sat in the gym by myself and waited for one of my friends to get there. Soon enough, I saw Tailgate com around the corner. Nathan Jones, also known as Tailgate, was the first friend I made here. He looked around the gym for and minute, then came and sat down beside me." Looking for anyone else to sit with?" I laughed. He shook his head and said "Nah, just looking for you. Ready for your first day?" I sighed "Ha, totally." Tailgate punched my shoulder, "Well, you better be." I laughed. More and more kids poured into the gym. Soon the principle, Mrs. Greene, came into the room to give the welcome assembly. "Welcome back students! I hope you all had a great summer! Now as you know, the first football game is here at home Friday, and I want you all to come out and give your support to both the football team, and the band during their halftime show!" Wow, I thought, someone who actually gives a damn about the band. Soon we were all dismissed to our first block class. Tailgate helped me find Mrs. Sutton's classroom, then he headed off on his own. I quietly walked into the room. "Hello, please sign in here and find the agenda with your name on it." I signed in and found my seat, which of course, was in the back corner of the room. I sat down and opened my agenda. My class schedule, locker number, name, and lunch I.D. was all typed out. I wonder how much time that took. Soon, I heard the tardy bell ring. "Welcome back guys, I hope you all had a great summer," Mrs. Sutton started, "now as most of you know, this is your homeroom. As you can see we have a new student this year. Parker Woods, would you please come up and tell us a bit about yourself. Great. I stood up and walked to the front of the room. "Uh, hey, I'm Parker. I grew up in Pearl City, Hawaii. I'm a drummer in the school's band, and I like music." Mrs. Sutton smiled, "does anybody have any questions for Mr. Woods?" A boy who looked like he was probably a year behind and trying to be cool raised his hand. Mrs. Sutton pointed at him, "Yes James?" James leaned back, "Where'd you get that bad ass scar on your eye?" Mrs. Sutton sternly exclaimed "Language Mr. Martin, and that's quite a personal question. Parker, you may choose not to answer if you wish." I sighed, "I was in a car accident with my mom last year, which is why I moved here. My dad wanted to get a fresh start after she passed away." I rubbed my arm and looked down. The room was silent. "I'm so sorry Parker, you may sit down now." I stumbled back to my seat and sat down. The rest of the class period dragged on for what seemed like forever. Soon enough the bell rang and I threw my agenda into my bag and headed to the second floor for English. "Hey, wait up!" I turned around to see James behind me. "I hope I didn't offend you, I wasn't trying to be mean." I shrugged, "your fine." He smiled a sly smile, "What do you have next?" "English with Mr. Barta," I replied. "Same, I'll just walk with you," he said. I shrugged, "okay." With that we walked to English.
