her pov.

"You okay? Babe?" X and I arrive at the park after minutes of walking. I then realize that I was sulking like a child the whole time we were walking towards our destination. X sits down on the nearby park bench, making me mirror his actions and then look at him in the eye.

"Nah, not really," I truthfully respond. "Looking at the new clients makes me curious again. I really want to know what my past life is like. Why can't Ero allow us to know?"

Ero is the big boss, the one who recruited all of us lost souls to become cupids. He keeps track of all the cupids' most recent past lives, and he's the only one who knows all of our names and who we were.

But he never dares to disclose any information.

"You do know that Ero doesn't give us anything because we'll want to become human again, right? Ero can't give us that opportunity because he's too weak, and he doesn't want to make us expect that he'll do anything."

Those who lived the most complicated lives, those who can't easily be segregated  straight to heaven or hell after death, are the ones who usually become cupids.

That's why I always wonder what type of life I lived, was it so complicated that I'm now stuck in mid-afterlife after death?

"X, bear with me for a moment and let me ask you this question. Aside from me, have you ever wondered what your real name was?" I turn to him and asked curiously.

X frowns upon hearing my question, "Well, I've always wondered, but it's not like I can remember. If I wanted to know I wouldn't know where to start with," He leans back comfortably.

"We can start finding out, you know!" I suggest out of excitement, then holding his hand. He immediately pulls his hand back as if I did something I haven't done before, the same hand then scratching the back of his neck.

"What are you doing, crazy woman," He softly comments.

I then glare at him menacingly for acting so strangely, I've always done that ever since he started working with us. What a weirdo.

"Wait, Q, isn't that Park Jimin and Jin Seohyung?" X squints, looking at a distance then points his finger out. I enthusiastically turn my head towards the direction he's pointing out.

Wow, this couple really makes me feel like they're following me around.

Compared to what we observed just about an hour before, the aura between the two had visibly turned dark. They're still walking together, but it seems as if they're.. awkward.

I scan down to look at the red string.

Uh-oh. It's in a much worse state than before.

"Oh crap, X, I think Jimin and Seohyung are--"

"Perfect together right? I mean, since I kinda finished my job with you for today so I need to go with my next client. Just call me when you need help," X cuts me off with a statement spat as if he were on a rush.

"No, I think the string is starting to--", I try to protest against him, but he freaking left before I could even say anything, just dissolving into air like that.

Shit. What do I do?

I've never had a couple this apart before.

I perseveringly stand on my feet alone, making an attempt to rush towards Seohyung's side to prevent her from removing her eyes away from Jimin. While being centimeters away from reaching Seohyung and using my magic for the first time in a while, I then fail to notice one small detail that can ruin a perfectly good attempt.

A fucking rock.
