"Purple?!" X's raised voice echoes in the hall, all with that exact type of reaction I expect after teleporting back to the headquarters. The way he reacted confirms what I first thought about what I saw. Though I have no idea how it happened, I already felt that purple symbolize something terrible.

"Well, it's not broken yet-" I try to assure him but is immediately cut off by his nagging.

"Yet but will be! Ero is going to kill you, babe. It's been a while since anyone has ever created a purple string before. You know that means that there will be a near-change of fate right?" He stares at me in the eyes, completely serious and without a tinge of playfulness. My mouth gapes wide open (not figuratively) as I never felt this clueless before.

All this time I became a cupid I've never encountered such happening. It's always been successful.

"What do you mean 'a near-change of fate?'"

"Don't quote me on this because I honestly only ever just heard about it; but they say that if you get a purple string and you're unable to revert it back to its original color, your cupid life span will increase. Literally, it will, I'm not kidding. You know those cupids who have 'retired' after being here for 8-10 years? They've all made this mistakes before, and they're here for longer and longer. They thought they could change it by paring up a successful couple, but the span never gets shorter. They gave up."

A gulp drops down my throat to my guts, panic rising from my chest. "W-What? Then how can you change it? I mean there's gotta be some way that they'll get to leave right?"

"Well, they wait, and the deities will still take them. They aren't the priority though. I mean, I have no idea why you're still here honestly. It's your first time getting a purple string," He strokes his chin in wonder. However, my mind lies somewhere else, thinking of all the solutions there can be.

I mean, it hasn't been broken..

"Wait, X, it's gotta be irreversible in some way right?"

I disperse back to Jimin's whereabouts after hearing X talk about what he knew about the purple string. I try shaking off the negative thoughts, but all ended without victory. I continue to walk alongside Jimin, thinking of countless antidote ways to reverse the purple effect. I don't even know why I started messing up this bad, and I don't even know why I let Jimin get infatuated with that girl in the blind date.

I keep staring at Jimin, following his footsteps beside him with my arms crossed behind my back, until he immediately halts in the middle of nowhere because of a text message. I look over to the screen beneath his shoulder and saw that it came from Seohyung, who's asking him to meet up with her. My eyes light up as I spot a new opportunity to try to change the color of the string.

Jimin's reaction is the exact opposite of mine, though.

He dreadfully ploughs through the campus grounds while I skip next to him in sheer excitement. His expression doesn't match mine, instead it's the complete opposite. A more solemn and stern look paints his features in contrast to the apparent enthusiasm in mine.

Why does it seem like he doesn't want to meet her?

Jimin stops in his destination, and there I meet Seohyung again. She forces a smile on her lips and clears her throat. Her fingers start to wrestle each other in nervousness, her gaze shooting glances everywhere but his eyes.

"What did you call me here for?" Jimin asks, shoving his hands in his pockets.

"Well, I think I just changed my mind," Seohyung's shoulders scramble up straight, trying to maintain a straight look. "I'm in love with you, Jimin. And I just realised that so lately."

My eyelids flicker in surprise after Seohyung's sudden confession. I revert back to Jimin, expecting his expression to warp into something much more than just dead flat. But instead, it's way beyond what I expected. He looks infuriated, fire radiates from his stare, his knuckles turning the palest shade of white. He attempts to turn away without saying a word, as if he wouldn't be able to contain himself if he let himself say a word to her.

Seohyung, stop him, please.

I stare into the embarrased woman's eyes, trying to make her go after him with all my might. She picks up her feet and dashes straight towards his direction, forcefully grabbing him by the shoulder to face her.

"You can't make me dread saying that for ages and just leave when I finally admit to it, J-Jimin," She raises her voice yet still looks away bashfully, her fingertips and palms playing with the hems of her sleeves.

"I'm in love with you," she continues.
