November 12th, 1846
New York City, New YorkDearest Paul Bent,
It is with greatest pleasure I am giving you this ticket, to come join me in my circus the 22nd of January 1847, to accompany me for an evening of some of the most enchanting magic you have ever laid eyes on. I am looking forward to meeting you.
At show's end I will be greeting the audience goodbye by the exit of the building and you simply tell me your name and we will go have a chat somewhere. If so it would happen you were not to catch me by the exit, you just mention your name to any of those you can see who work there, and they will make sure to help you find me. I am very much looking forward to meeting you, Mr. Bent.
Thank you for your interest.
Respectfully,
P.T. Barnum[ticket to show of the 22nd of January 1847 attached]
