I was waiting in the throne room for Caroline and Molina to go on a shopping spree today. I had been sitting on my own for a while, something I wasn't complaining about really. I had always enjoyed my alone time. This morning, my alone time wasn't interrupted by Alex, but it also didn't leave me as refreshed as it usually was. Probably because he got on my nerves. I imagined he saw me as this helpless girl that needed his help in everything just because he's the Alpha. There must have been girls upon girls upon girls that must use him for his money like that. He was so easy to give it to me too. I told him I don't need it.

I began to explore the throne room

I began to explore the throne room. It wasn't a very complicated design. On one side, the door to the outside, on the opposite side of the door was an elevated platform with a single gold throne sat on top of it. Only one for Alex. There was a display next to the throne chair that I became curious about. I stepped up to the platform and examined the display. It was a ring display. Six out of the twelve slots filled. Half of the rings were pure gold, all of them the same thickness, and the other half were various shades of silver with a gemstone in the center. The silver rings were thicknesses, some were slimmer than other, but none of them were as thick as the gold rings.

I couldn't think of why these things were here, sitting next to the Alpha's chair with his own crown sitting in the lap of the chair. I wondered why he left his crown out like this, were there not any thieves around that would love to have an Alpha's crown? Maybe he simply wasn't worried about stealing it or any other valuables that sat around the throne. Mom and Dad had kept theirs in their room, not wanting the kids or any other pack member around them, getting them dirty. I remember Mother scolding me countless times when I was younger.

"Ke'aysha Moore! I know you aren't in that closet again!"

I pulled my finger away from the Luna crown, giggling at the thought of it being mine one day. "No, Momma!" I yelled back.

I would sit and look at it. It was always so shiny, the opal gem in the middle being so clean I could see my reflection in it. Daddy's was just as shiny, but it never had a gem in it, just silly diamonds and pearls and other gems. I never knew what they all stood for, but Mom told me the opal was the gem of our pack and has been for generations. It stood for us being strong and honorable and loyal. Momma said loyalty has always been a big thing in our values. If there was no loyalty, there was no honor. Without honor, there was no strength. Without strength, you would not be able to contribute to the good of your pack and that was frowned upon greatly.

The opal was only in the Luna crown, not in the Alpha's crown. Every time I asked Momma about it, she would always say, "I'll explain it when you're older."

I would stare for hours at the shine and value of our pack that I was going to represent one day.

"Ke'aysha!"

"Ke'aysha?" I turned around to face the voice that had called me. It was Caroline and Molina, dressed casually and comfortably for the day on the town. Caroline was smiling sympathetically at me, sad for me. "Ready to go?" She asked.
