I paid the $50 worth of stuff she needed for her hair and didn't blink as I swiped my card for her. She had the biggest smile on her face as she skipped out of the store and even if it was $200 worth of things I still would've bought it for her if she would have that same smile on her. I looked down at my watch and saw I had about 45 minutes to get to the school. Maybe now was a good time to take her back to the pack house.

I put my hand on her back and started walking back to the house, "So, did you have a good morning?" I asked her.

Her eyes lit up as she nodded her head, looking into the bag she got from the store, "Yea. It was really fun." She was just this ray of sunshine I had to tell the whole world about right now. "We should go get breakfast!" She suggested.

I smiled at the naivety that she carried. I never told her I had other things to do, maybe to avoid the reality that I'd have to leave her. I finally broke the news that I had to be an Alpha today. "I have things to do today, hun. We can do that tomorrow or even tonight."

She looked at me and rocked on her feet for a moment, thinking. "What do you have to do? Is it a bunch of meetings or something?"

I shrugged, not wanting to lie to her, "No. I'm showing my face to the middle and high school and then gonna swing by the Warriors' Field to check up on their progress. And maybe have a meeting or two."

Ke'aysha was a bundle of excited nerves by the time she responded, "Can I  come along?"

She looked so expectantly at me, wanting to stay in my shadow all day and honestly, I had nothing against that. What would be the harm if I brought her with me?

What if information about Pack Hollins comes in?

I can distract her for a little bit. She doesn't need to know.

If you say so.

I smiled at her, "You would get some questions from others I would imagine." I warned her.

Regardless, she was still radiating with her own warmth and happiness that was being held inside her. "It can't be that bad. Some people have already saw me with Molina and Caroline."

She had a point, but I didn't want her to jump into being out and centre in front of the pack. They can sometimes get really overwhelming when they collectively got excited about something. And the pack would be excited about having a Luna for their Alpha for a change. Now that I think about it, the pack hadn't had a Luna in about 15 years and when I had open pack hearings there was always that one overly concerned pack mother that asked how much longer until I had a mate. I could never answer her question. Til now.

"Well, I do have to warn you. People are going to get up in your personal business." Ke'yasha was finally quiet, not responding to what I had said even though there was no way she couldn't hear it. I decided to try to be comforting for her. "If you ever just want to go back home, simply squeeze my shoulder twice and I'll take you back home."
