5:12am. Shawn and I have been up all night, traveling to different places around the city, trying to spend as much time as physically possible with him before he leaves tomorrow. Tomorrow. He's leaving tomorrow morning and I probably won't see him for another four months. And, to top it off, I have to go back to school tomorrow as well. It's insane how happy I am right now, knowing that I will be so upset tomorrow at this time.
We were currently laughing our asses off, at what? Nothing in particular. You know those times when literally everything is funny to you and you can't help but laugh until your sides hurt? Yeah, that's whats going on.
"Why is that so funny?" Shawn spoke in between laughs, clutching onto his stomach as he bent over the table, his face almost in his waffle.
"I don't know! Look at him!" We were laughing at this picture of this older gentleman on the Waffle House menu. He was holding a huge bottle of syrup surrounded by smaller pictures of waffles. We had been laughing about it for the past several minutes.
"I-I can't!" I said, choking on the very air I was breathing, which caused Shawn to laugh even harder. I'm sure that by now, all the three other people that were in here with us were judging, but I couldn't care less.
Just as our laughing started to die down, the bell above the door rang, signaling that someone had just walked in.
"Oh my god!" At the door stood a girl, a very pretty girl might I add, looking over at us in excitement.
"Dammit I told you to wear your damn hat." I whispered across to Shawn who only laughed in return. The girl started walking over to us and we acted like we didn't see her, so it wouldn't be a weird stare down.
"Shawn and Adeline! How are you guys?" She said, making both of us utterly confused. How does she know me?
"H-Hey!" We both said, sounding so unsure. She slid in the booth next to Shawn, confusing us even more.
"It's been so long! How's your guy's break going?"
"Uh-good?" I replied, staring into her happy upbeat face.
"I'm sorry, what's your name again?" Shawn asked. Thank god I didn't have to ask that.
"Oh my god you guys are too funny!" She said, loudly, once again. After looking back and forth between us she realized we were serious.
"Avelyn? You guys don't remember? We had calc together last year, Adeline." She said, looking disbelieved that I don't recognize her.
"I didn't even take calc last year." I mentioned, looking over to Shawn who still looked very confused.
"Oh, well we did have a class together." She mumbled, looking happy as ever. Then it was silent.
The door chimed once again and someone, who I couldn't see their face, walked in and sat at a booth in the corner. Avelyn's smiled faltered before standing up out of our booth.
"I have to go but, I'll see you at school Adeline! And good luck with the rest of your tour Shawn!" She said, walking over to the guy who just walked in, sitting down in front of him. Shawn and I just looked at each other, before bursting out into laughter again.
"Wow, I must be a total ass I never noticed her when I was still in school." He said, rubbing his hands on his pants before grabbing his glass of water, taking a sip.
"How do you think I feel! Obviously we're in the same class."
"Yeah. You're the total ass." He smirked as I threw a remaining piece of bacon at him.
"Watch it Mendes." I mumbled, standing up from the booth, grabbing the receipt and heading over to the counter before Shawn could interject and pay.
