"I know." Mae said, looking at me with a hint of excitement and smugness at the same time. I stared back, my palms beginning to sweat.

"You know? Know what?" By now she was fully in the room, standing right before me.

"I know about you and Mendes." She whispered his name in case he was listening right outside the door. I swallowed my own throat.

"What? You're insane-"

"I was awake last night, Ads. I heard you guys whispering." She smiled proudly as I tried to think of every single word that left my mouth, making sure I didn't say anything too risky.

"Shit." I mumbled, causing Mae to laugh.

"Why didn't you tell me?" She said, a little anger in her voice.

"Well, we've only been 'official' for about four days now and we wanted to keep things chill until we knew for sure this is what we wanted." I started pulling at my fingers, looking up to her as I spoke.

"And is it?"

"Is it what?"

"What you wanted?" She asked me, bringing a smile to my face. Of course this is what I wanted- even more than what I wanted.

"Well, of course." I spoke, not even bothering to contain the smile that had grown on my face.

"Well I hope it is. Enough to lie to your best friend I guess." She said, a little rudely. What?

"Mae, it's not like we've been together for months. It's only been a couple of days." I said, using my hands to emphasize my point. Still stood there, her arms across her chest.

"Yeah, I guess so. " She said. I was still a little unsure of her tone in her voice.

"You know what that means?" She started.

"What?"

"We can tell Colton now!" She said, turning on her heel and rushing out the door.

"Colton!" She yelled from the hallway. I muttered a quick 'shit' to myself before rushing out of the room and down the stairs, trying to catch up with her.

"Mae!" I yelled, running up to her.

"Colton guess-" I interrupted her by jumping on her back and covering my hand on her mouth. Shawn and Colton stood there with raised eyebrows, staring at us like we were insane. We both stopped and stared back at them.

"That's my que to leave." Colton said, walking past us and up the stairs, leaving us alone with Shawn.

There was an awkward silence as we all stood there. I knew that Shawn was either thinking that Mae knew about us or she was pretending that she knew something that she clearly knew. Or, maybe that she didn't know anything about us at all. But I think subconsciously, we all knew what we were thinking.

"So, uh-"

"She knows Shawn." I cut him off. His face turned slightly white as he looked back and forth between the two of us.

"How?" He whisper-yelled, walking closer to us. I hopped off of her back and stood next to her.

"You guys were practically yelling last night." Mae muttered, looking around everywhere else but Shawn and I's face. Shawn swallowed harshly.

"Look, don't tell Colton yet." Shawn said, raising his hands up in defense. Mae looked taken a back at his words.

"What? Why not?" She snapped, crossing her arms over her chest, staring at the both of us. Shawn looked shocked at her sudden burst, but shook his head to continue.
