I woke up to my mom shaking me gently. "Meryl! Your phone has been going off for hours! If you don't check it right now, I will!" She yelled. I moaned, rubbed my eyes, and slowly sat up in my bed. As I scrambled to find my phone under the huge pink pillows, I remebered that I had to get ready for my "date" with Jason tonight. When I finally checked my phone, I saw that I a text from Jason and a thousand updates from Marina.

"Hey, hope you are still coming tonight. 😎"

"Yes, I am still coming. So excited!🙊" I responded, lying of course.

I went to go find an outfit in my closet when I heard Jacqui open the front door and scream. I immediately ran downstairs to see if she was okay. When I looked up, I saw Charlie hugging his mom. I swear I stood on the steps for at least 30 minutes. A million questions were going through my head. Where did he go? Did he read my text? Did he go to Tanith's? Are thy together again? Did he know I was here? Why is he here? My thoughts were quickly interrupted with Charlie's sweet voice calling my name.

"Meryl. Meryl? Are you okay??" He asked touching my arm gently.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Where did you go?"

"I went to Tanith's. We got back together." He said afraid to look up at me. My jaw dropped but I recovered quickly replacing it with a small smile, hoping he wouldn't see anything in my green eyes.

"Oh okay. I'm just glad you're safe!" I said as I walked upstairs trying not to cry again. "I need to calm down. I can't have bloodshot eyes when I leave the house." I thought to myself. I wiped away the tears with a Kleenex and started to put on the outfit I had picked out just before Charlie arrived. It was my favorite casual dress. It was made of a red material with the tiniest sequins I had ever seen. I noticed that the tight fit seemed to show off the curves I didn't have, which only happens with special outfits. I searched for my extremely high black heels and carefully put them on without falling. I packed a little black clutch to match the shoes and walked into the bathroom to do little touch ups on my hair and makeup. After I was done, I carefully walked downstairs trying to make as little noise as possible. As I tiptoed to where my mom kept the car keys, I heard Charlie's soothing voice.

"Shit." I whispered to myself.

"Where are you going? You look fantastic!" Charlie asked with a huge grin.

"Dinner with a friend." I lied.

"Oh, okay. Have fun!" Charlie made the slightest frown but quickly walked away before it became noticeable.

I walked as fast as I could to the car and headed to the address Jason had given me. "This is going to be interesting." I mentally prepared myself for the worst.
