*Bucky's POV*

She looked at me dead in the eyes.

She looked scared, angry, horrified.

I didn't understand why. I frowned, taking a single step towards her, and she panicked and thrust her hand towards me. Suddenly my legs were incased in solid ice, and I looked at her, stunned.

"Sarah?" I whispered. No, I thought. This can't be real.

Her eyes glazed over and the ice dissipated, but only for a moment. Then her hard gaze returned.

"You did this to me." She said.

All it took was five words to break my heart.

I stood, completely frozen. Not from her ice, but from her words. A single tear fell from my eye as I stared at her.

The face I loved, the cheeks I touched, the lips I kissed. How could it all be gone?

Is this how Steve felt, when he found out I was alive, but wanted to kill him? Did he feel like the sky was falling, that his heart was being stabbed, that the world was ending?

I fell to my knees, pleading, begging with my eyes that Sarah would remember me. She had to.

But she didn't. Her gaze stayed fixed on me, and I could feel it ripping me apart with every second. Peter looked at her and started saying something, and I struggled to listen and understand.

"Sarah, we are here to help you, ok? All this pain you have been put through was not Bucky's fault, alright? We are saving you from the people that did this." Peter told her. Her gaze shifted back to me, but it was more hesitant this time.

"N-no, he did it. He hurt me. I'm not going with him!" She said, and Peter tried to calm her down while I just stared and stared and stared. My mind couldn't comprehend this.

"No no, it's ok, he didn't do anything to hurt you. He has saved your life before. All he wants is your safety, I can promise it myself, ok?" He reasoned with her, holding out his hand. She glanced between me and him, and then hesitantly took his hand. Peter looked at me with sympathy, and led her out. When she walked out, she avoided me, hiding behind Peter.

Once she was out and safe, I collapsed in agony. I held my head in my hands and screamed. I screamed as my soul was crushed.

No.

No.

No.

"There he is, the master assassin." I heard someone say behind me. I didn't bother to move from the spot I was in, figuring that if I moved, they would just kill me. And as much as being alive was hurting right now, I had to make it out, because Sarah didn't abandon me when I needed help. So I wasn't going to abandon her.

I felt the cold barrel of a gun press to my temple.

"What do you want?" I asked, preparing to fight. I wasn't bothering to control my anger anymore; I was going to let them feel exactly how I did.

"We want our soldier back, of course. That was the deal, wasn't it? You get the girl and we get you?" He remarked, acting as if it was obvious. I closed my eyes and clenched my teeth, relying on my senses to figure out what position the man was in, and if he was alone. I sensed he was standing with his arm out towards my head, his body farther away for his protection. I think he might've had a guard or two with him.

"No it wasn't. The deal was never agreed to, and seeing as you hurt her, that made sure I wasn't going to go along with your deal." I replied. I heard the guy scoff behind me, and he shuffled his feet. I heard two groans, behind me and him, and I realized there were at least two other people in the room.
