Chapter Twenty Four

*Bucky's POV*

By the time we arrived in Seattle, the city had already been attacked.

As our plane got closer, we could see the plumes of smoke, and hear the gunshots of people fighting back. It only took us an hour to get here- how did this happen so fast?

Tony expertly landed the plane about a half mile from the city lines, and we hurried out of the plane and towards the action. I ran next to Sarah, who looked determined to bring Crossbones down.

"Cap, call it!" Natasha yelled, and we ducked behind a building, awaiting orders.

"We need to see exactly what they are doing. Nat, Sarah, Cara and Hawkeye, you guys are going to sneak up on them, then report on their whereabouts. Find out who Crossbones is with, who is shooting those guns, and tell the rest of us who the bad guys are. Banner, Peter and Tony, you guys are going to be the secret weapons. Once we find out who Crossbones is with and who we are fighting, you guys are going to come out and attack. Bucky, me and you are going to stall them, question them and try and get answers. Everyone got it?" Steve ordered, looking around as everyone nodded.

"Alright, Nat, Sarah, Cara and Hawkeye, go find out what's going on." Steve finished, and the group left to investigate. The rest of us stayed where we were.

Five minutes later, Natasha's voice came across the earpieces.

"He's with Loki, alright. They are pretty much destroying things just for the heck of it. Probably trying to draw us in." She told us, and we heard an explosion. Steve nodded at me, and we started moving, leaving the rest of the team behind. They would be our asset once we confront the villains.

I followed Steve into the heart of the city, and caught sight of Loki. The Avengers had told me about him, how he was pretty much a god, but I hadn't fully believed it until now.

He wielded a large golden scepter, that had a blue orb of energy at the top. It cut through metal and steel and made several buildings topple over, while Crossbones shot arrows at the remaining citizens. A group of what looked like S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were trying to take down the odd pair, shooting multiple rounds, in an attempt to bring them down. But it just seemed to annoy them.

The second Loki saw us, fury and absolute rage took over. He pointed his scepter thing at us and blasted. I thought we were toast, but Steve just calmly raised his shield and blocked it. He didn't even blink an eye.

"I thought you were dead." Steve called, taunting Loki but also trying to figure out why he wasn't dead. Loki scowled, shooting at another building, and then him and Crossbones came closer.

"Well, I don't exactly feel dead." Loki retorted.

"Haven't you died like twice now? Why can't you just stay dead for once?" Steve questioned. Loki laughed.

"It seems as though my time isn't up yet."

"We'll take care of that for you." Cap promised him. Loki just smirked, acting as though he knew something we didn't.

Steve shifted his shield on his arm, looking up at Crossbones and Loki. I gave a thumbs up behind my back, signaling for everyone to come out of hiding.

"Look, I don't know what you're planning, but you aren't going to get away with it. Our team is bigger, stronger, and pissed off at you two to no end." I cut in, catching the attention of Loki, who hadn't met me yet. His eyes left mine for a second when he saw the rest of the team approaching, and then he glanced back at me.

"Oh, look who it is. The one-armed man out of time. A ticking Hydra time bomb used as a slave, your memory wiped and your heart frozen. How does it feel to know you tried to kill your best friend?" He taunted, smiling widely as I growled. I clenched and unclenched my fists, my metal arm recalibrating. I know he was trying to get to me on purpose, trying to make me stop thinking rationally, but I was going off of months of pent up anger. I hadn't released my anger in a long time, and I was so infuriated at the moment that I was ready to take down anyone and anything. He had struck a deep nerve right there.
