*Bucky's POV*
At approximately 8:03 AM, Tony Stark's heart stopped.
Doctors ran into his surgery room, carrying defibrillators, and I shook Sarah awake. She shot up, looking at me questioningly, and I gestured for her to follow me.
We watched through the glass as they shocked him, his body jumping in the air. They did it again and again, but it wasn't working- the monitor still showed a flatline.
I looked down and away from the window. I couldn't watch anymore- I can't watch teammates die. Not after Valerie.
Sarah then gasped, smacking my arm, and I looked up. Finally, the shocking had worked, and Tony was breathing again.
The heart line spiked up and down at it's normal rate, and I could see the doctors breathing a sigh of relief, as Tony's chest rose up and down again. It amazed me that he could still be alive after taking that hit- but I was extremely grateful for the fact that he was. Sarah breathed in deeply and I put my arm around her, as we watched the doctors get back to work after that. It was a terrible scare, but he was alive, and that was what mattered.
After that my adrenaline was way up, so there was no chance in hell I was going to get any sleep now. Instead me and Sarah just wandered over to the cafeteria to get breakfast.
There, we found Steve and a much better Natasha, who grinned at us as we walked in.
"You're ok!" Sarah exclaimed, running up and hugging Tasha. Nat laughed and hugged her back.
"Yes I am!" She replied.
I shook my head at the two and sat down next to Steve, who gave me a light hearted grin.
"Hey Buck. What made you come down here?" He asked, and I hesitated. Everyone was, for once, in a very good mood, and I didn't want to totally ruin it. But now I had waited too long, and Steve knew something was up.
"Tony gave us a scare." I said, and immediately both Steve and Natasha's eyebrows furrowed with worry.
"What happened?" Natasha asked.
"His heart stopped. Doctors ran in with the defibrillator and everything, and we rushed over to watch. His heart wasn't beating for one and a half minutes, and it took nine shocks to wake him up. But he's stable now, and breathing normally- it just scared the shit out of us, so there was no chance for more sleep." I explained, and their eyes widened briefly, but they relaxed a little when I said he was stable.
"God, our team is being torn apart. We need to kill these bastards before either us, or more people, die. I'm sick of seeing people we care about getting killed or hurt." Natasha stated, clenching her teeth as she spoke. I nodded in complete agreement, and Sarah also nodded.
For the rest of the meal we pretty much ate in silence, every now and then talking about whatever came to mind. But we were the type of people that didn't mind silence at all. We simply accepted that there was nothing to talk about, and enjoyed that we weren't fighting, dying, or hurt. You know, the simple things to appreciate in life.
Once we finished eating we threw our trash away, and sat down at the table again. We had no where to go, no where to be, when we weren't fighting. It's sad that we hardly know what to do for fun.
"What do you guys want to do?" I asked, looking around as everyone glanced up at me in thought. A long silence followed.
"God, I have no idea. I don't even know what I like to do anymore!" Natasha exclaimed, coming to the sudden realization that she doesn't know much about herself. The rest of us nodded in complete agreement.
"We could watch TV again." Sarah suggested, and we looked around at each other, silently asking if anyone wanted to do that. I shrugged and nodded, breaking the ice.
"Sure, I guess." I said.
Sarah got up and started walking to the door, and we rose to follow her. We walked down the halls and Sarah led us to the TV room, pushing the door open and holding it for the rest of us. We found Bruce and Cara in there, watching Bones again.
"Hey guys. Care to watch Bones with us?" Bruce asked, looking over as we walked in. We joined them on the huge corner couch. Sarah sat next to me, and Steve and Natasha took a seat on the other side of Bruce and Cara. Luckily the episode was just now starting, so we hadn't missed much.
I settled down comfily in my spot, my shoulder pressing against Sarah's. I snuck a glance around the room and saw Natasha leaning her head on Steve's, and his arm was around her. Both Cara and Bruce were watching the TV with a huge amount of interest, hanging on to every word and every fact that Dr. Brennan told the rest of the forensic anthropologists. Sarah's eyes seemed to brighten whenever agent Booth came on screen, and I smiled to myself at her reaction, trying not to laugh. She was also invested in the show.
Once I saw how much everyone else liked it, I actually paid attention. I ignored the confusion I had over how they did all the fake bodies and special effects and focused on the plot.
In this episode, the team had found a body in a maze, that was dressed as a mummy. Then they found a second body, and discovered that the girls had been scared and tortured to death. I could relate extremely closely to their torture- and when it was mentioned on screen, Sarah scooted closer to me. We shared similar experiences, when it came to torture.
The clues the team gathered about the two dead girls led them to find out there was another victim, and I found myself praying that the girl was ok. My heart was racing during the fight scene, and immediately I breathed a sigh of relief when they found the girl and she was ok.
I really got into the show, and I found myself enjoying the fact that it distracted me- I didn't have to think about painful memories, painful experiences, or whether or not I would die tomorrow. It let me escape my world and live a moment in theirs.
We watched three more episodes before Natasha and Steve got up, wandering into the kitchen to get food. They brought back a bag of freshly cooked popcorn, and handed each of us a bowl with the steaming, buttery smack.
I haven't had popcorn in 71 years- and it was one of the best things I've ever tasted.
I finished my entire bowl in record time, and was disappointed when there was no more left. Sarah saw my reaction and laughed, handing me her bowl, which I promptly gave back.
"No no, it's yours, you eat it." I told her quietly, trying not to interrupt the show. She shook her head.
"Uh uh. I'm not hungry, I want you to eat it!" She whispered back. And I frowned, trying to shove it in her hands. I wasn't going to take food from her.
"Bucky I swear to god if you don't take it I'll have to freeze you, god damn it." She muttered, an evil gleam in her eyes. My eyes widened, and I hurriedly took the popcorn bowl from her.
"Fine." I scowled.
She smiled triumphantly, and we went back to watching the show, as I finished her bowl of popcorn.
Right when the episode ended, we heard a familiar voice coming from the door.
"Guys, I want to watch Doctor Who!"
