"She was a wicked thing sometimes. All full of want.
As if the shape of the world depended on her mood. As if she were important."

The rest of the day was uneventful and I was immensely thankful for that. I didn't need any more drama after today's experience.
After everything was done and we had finally wrapped up for the day, Jen finally approached me with expectant eyes and a stern expression.
''I was secretly hoping you'd forget about it,'' I said, shrugging my coat on and buttoning it up since the weather had become a little chilly.
She scoffed, ''You can stop hoping because I'm not letting it go.''
''I don't know how to tell you what exactly happened, plus, it's a long story.''
''Don't worry, we have the rest of the night, and if you're still feeling tired we can head to your house or a coffee shop nearby, It's your choice,'' she said adamantly.
''Okay,'' I sighed ''we can go to the coffee shop, I can't trust myself to not immediately fall asleep as soon as I find a soft, comfortable, and warm surface.''
She agreed with a triumphant smile while putting her own coat on and wrapping her red, flowery scarf around her neck.
She led the way to the cafe since I didn't have a clue where it was. We made small talk on our way to it. It was at least fifteen minutes away by foot, but I didn't want to take a cab as Jen had suggested because as cold as the night was, it was still beautiful, the stars twinkling in the sky winking down at us and the moon in its full beauty, it was a breathtaking view for me and I wouldn't want to pass on it by going in a cab.
Jen asked me how my day went after Evan had left and I told her about everything I did. We both felt pretty tired after a hectic day at work. I felt like I could fall at any second. Jen seemed to have noticed and taken some pity on me. She stopped a couple of times on our way to the cafe to make sure I was doing fine.
We arrived after what felt like hours and went inside the cafe. The small bell on top of the door chimed as soon as we entered. I always found these bells cute in small cafes or stores and it made me feel a childlike joy because of it. We went inside and sat in the booth at the corner that was quite warm and had a brilliant view of the night out.
I gazed out the window and when it started to fog I took it upon myself to behave like a childish kid. I started making all sorts of faces at the window to which Jen just grinned and told me to continue. I did since it was fun after all. I told her she should be a child once in a while and that being old gets boring and dull.
She only shook her with a small smile on her face and said, ''This happens when you spend too much time with your four-year-old niece.'' I just grinned and nodded my head.
Even though the cafe was small, it had a warm and tranquil vibe to it. The walls were painted a soft shade of light pink and were decorated with coffee paintings and quotes about coffee here and there. There was also a string of lights attached to the walls that stretched from one corner of the wall to the other. The roof had an intricate pattern of roses, perhaps? I wasn't sure but it was beautiful and detailed nonetheless.
This was officially my new favorite cafe.
After waiting for the waitress for quite some time -due to the cafe being full of customers- she arrived and welcomed us with a warm smile that I couldn't help but return with one of my own. We then rattled away our orders. While Jen ordered a peanut butter and honey sandwich with camomile tea, I opted for a slice of chocolate heaven cake along with a cappuccino with extra whipped cream and sugar.
Our orders arrived within five minutes and after the waitress told us to enjoy our food and call if we needed anything we nodded at her and dived into our food like there was no tomorrow.
A long day at work can do that to ya folks.
It wasn't long before Jen started persuading me to tell her about my past-if there was any- with my Ex-Boss.
''Okay, Ava I gave you as much time as I could, now I want, no, need you to tell me what exactly went down between you and your boss,'' she said, with a raised eyebrow, she folded her arms and rested them on the table.
''Can't you just let it go?'' I asked, with pleading eyes.
''No, and that look won't work on me, so knock it off.''
I sighed loudly, ''Fine.'' And told her about how I'd been working at the office for about 3 years. I told her about all the amazing people that I've met and how much knowledge I've gained from working there. she smiled throughout my story. She got excited and leaned in a bit to listen more attentively when I started to tell her about Evan.
I told her how I went to his office not knowing that my old boss was replaced by him and found him screwing one of his employees against the desk while saying her name as he repeatedly thrust into her from behind. She only wiggled her eyebrows at that and I rolled my eyes in regard to it. I told her how I ran out of that office faster than he could say 'fuck'. I told her I broke off all contact and even sent a resignation letter that he, to this day, never accepted.
''Then what happened?" She urged me on with an eager expression.
''Jeez, let me breath will ya.''
''Okay, fine.'' She with a hand raised in surrender and told me to continue whenever I was ready.
I continued after inhaling a lungful of air and told her about how after not getting a response from him for a week straight, I finally got one that gave me a strict instruction to meet him at his office. I told her with my voice cracking slightly about how my only intention to meet him to ask him why I wasn't being granted one resignation letter turned into an argument followed by a completely different argument after he forcefully kissed me as his life depended on it.
Jen gasped loudly at that with eyes as wide as saucers and told me to continue. I told her how I'd slapped him afterward for kissing me and stood my ground on finding another job regardless if he did or didn't accept my letter. After an hour of rambling, I finally reached the end part where I told her how I landed my job with her and was working alongside her.
''Wow,'' she said after a long pause, ''That's a lot to take in.''
''I know.'' I sighed heavily, ''I'm tired and he's not giving up and wants to date me.''
''That hot-stuff-chick-magnet wants to date you.''
I laughed at that comment, ''Yes.''
''I don't want to go out with him. I've already got enough problems on my shoulder and I don't want to add him to the ever-growing list.''
She patted my hand sympathetically and told me to give it time and go straight home and take a long, hot shower before going to bed.
I nodded thankfully to have ended this dreadful conversation, went straight home, and did exactly as told.
A filler but two updates in a week, hope I made it up to you guys. lots of love xoxo
