It was a dark and gloomy day. The sun wasn't shining and I could tell today wasn't going to be good. I got out of bed and trudged to the bathroom, I then got in front of the mirror. My somewhat long black hair was a mess and I had bags under my crystal blue eyes. I left the bathroom and plopped back on my bed. I looked at the clock and it read 6:12. That leaves me with 20 minutes to get ready. After a short sigh, I get off the bed. I rummage through my closet to find a shirt to wear. While doing that I start hearing the voice in my head.
"So how's it going Bryce?"
"U-uh good?"
"Why did you say it like a question? I keep telling you I won't hurt you."
"B-but you're a demon in my head."
"And I won't hurt you. Look, I know demons are usually depicted as bad entities but not all of us are, some of us are good people." The voice sounded a bit hurt at what I said.
"Are you really not going to hurt me?"
"Never." I breathed out a breath I didn't know I was holding. I was finally dressed. I had on a blue Superman long sleeve with some gray sweats. I grabbed my hoodie from my door handle and I put it on while walking down the stairs. I grab my bag and head out the door.
"Okay, I believe you. I just want to ask you questions and please answer them."
"But I... You see, uh... Okay, I will answer your questions to the best of my abilities."
"You will? Thank you. My first question is: Am I possessed?"
"Not possessed."
"Then what is this then?"
"It's like a vessel. You are my connection to Midworld, that's where you are. I live in the Underworld, which is not the same thing as Hell. They are two different things."
"Okay. Why do you talk to me? Why not someone stronger and smarter than me?"
"Because I don't want anyone else. Look, it's hard to explain, just... Can you go to the football field that's behind your school."
"Why?" I was finally close to my school.
"You will meet me in person, I promise. I will explain more about this then, okay?"
"But I... Okay, I will go to the field after school."
"Thank you!" The demon sounded excited.
"You're welcome." I sounded defeated and she didn't say anything after I said that. I walked into school and towards my locker. Before I make it there I'm shoved into the wall. My arm is sore and I hear laughing behind me. I hold my arm and continue to go through another torturous day in school.
The school day ended and I had bruises all over my body, my arm was really sore and I had a new black eye. I trudged my way to the field as the sky grew darker. It was very gloomy out and looked like it would start pouring. I put my hood up as I continued to trudge. When I got to the field I noticed someone on the bleachers. She had a red long sleeve on and had blue jeans on as well, she had short black hair that turned blue the closer it was to the scalp. I couldn't see the color of her eyes or anything else about her. She was holding a closed umbrella in her left hand. I walked over to her and I was about to tap her shoulder but she started speaking.
"Bryce Faith, is that you?" I jumped back a bit.
"Y-yes." She turned and I saw her face. She had some deep blue eyes full of different emotions. She had freckles that covered the bridge of her nose and some freckles on her cheeks. She had a warm smile too.
"Well it's finally nice to meet you in person Bryce. The name is Christina, people call me Chris or Christy though." I stood there dumbfounded.
"Y-you're the demon that talks to me?" She sighed.
"Yes, that's me. I'm the demon. Call me Chris, Christy, or Christina please."
"O-okay. I will. Why did you finally want to see me in person?"
"Because I have to say sorry. I'm sorry for not showing myself to you and protecting you when you needed it. I'm sorry for not being there when you needed it." Her voice was full of regret and sorrow.
"O-oh... It's okay really."
"No it's not, I watched and felt you getting hurt while I did nothing to help you. I did nothing."
"It's okay, really it is."
"Is it? Cause right now you have a black eye and bruises all over your body. How is that okay?" I look away. She was right, it wasn't okay. It wasn't okay to go home everyday with bruises and broken bones. "It's not. I hate myself for not helping you when you needed me."
"I assume so, who knows, maybe you deserve to hate yourself. But maybe you should let it go. Maybe you can start helping me now." It's odd to me when I don't stutter. She looked up and met my gaze.
"You are willing to put all of that behind you?"
"Yes." It's odd, I have this feeling of calmness and serenity by being around her. Maybe it's because she knows me the best out of everyone.
"Heh, you're odd Bryce."
"I-I am?" She chuckled.
"And back to the stuttering."
"Y-yeah." My phone goes off. I pull it out to see it's the forum online about this vigilante that has recently shown up. Whoever the vigilante is has the powers of electricity. The conversation was on what to call this hooded vigilante. In my phone I typed up Midnight and hit sent. As soon as I did, everyone loved it. I put my phone back in my pocket.
"Was that about the new vigilante?"
"Y-yeah. H-how did you know?"
"I listen to your thoughts."
"O-oh." She took me by the hand and started walking.
"Let's go have fun, okay?" I smiled.
"Okay."
