As Gray walked to school, Juvia ran up to him excitedly. "Gray!" She yelled before hugging him.
"Yes?" He replied, Juvia did a little dance before handing him a piece of paper. "Look they're doing sign ups for basketball!" She squeal pointing at the paper. Gray shook his head and forced the paper back into her hands.
"I'm not doing it Juvia." He said, before walking away. Juvia followed behind him closely. "Why not?" She asked. Gray ignored her.
"Gray?" She asked, the boy still did not reply. She grabbed his sleeve. "Please answer me!" She begged. Gray turned to her.
"Leave me alone." He said, before jerking his sleeve away from her, and walking away. Juvia stood there frozen. She crumpled the paper up and stuffed it her bag. Before walking to school in silence.
The school bell rang, Gray watched as Juvia went to sit by him, but she shook her head, and sat by another person. Juvia put her head down on the desk hiding it, by the way she shook he could tell she was crying.
Gray mentally slapped himself. The boy in front of him turned around and glared. "What did you do?" He said. Gray replied. "Everything."
When Juvia would pass Gray in the hall, she wouldn't wave or even gesture to him. Gray felt really horrible. He never meant anything, he enjoyed having her around. Gray rounded a corner to found Juvia looking at the trophy case. Her eyes were sad. "I'm sorry Gray." She said looking at the trophy.
Gray went to reach out for her, but as soon as she saw him she ran. Gray tried to chase her, but his schoolmates got in the way. He watched as she disappeared into the crowd. The release bell rang.
"Damn it." He cursed under his breath, he pushed the people out of his way, Natsu stopped him. "We need to talk right now!" The boy said, with disgust lurking in his voice.
Gray followed Natsu to a more private area, Natsu turned to him and punched him in the face. "That was for making Juvia cry." He said, as Gray fell to the ground.
Gray held his cheek, it throbbed. He looked up to see Natsu with fire in his eyes. "Explain Gray." He said pulling Gray up by the collar of his shirt. Gray was silent. "Now!" Natsu yelled.
"Let go of me first!" He said, Natsu dropped him. Gray got up off the ground, and dusted himself off. "I know I deserve every bit of what's coming towards me, and believe I do." He began.
"When Juvia handed me the flier for Basketball tryouts, I got mad because it reminded of what happened to my mom, and I lashed out without meaning to, I didn't mean to make her cry, or upset." Gray said looking down at his feet.
Natsu glared at him, he also touched his chin. "I'm watching you Gray, make her cry one more time, and it's the mortuary for you." Natsu threatened.
Gray nodded in agreement. "Where's Juvia, I need to talk to her." He said, Natsu thought for a minute before answering.
"When we were little Juvia would also run off to bridge to think, or cry. She felt better when she was around the water." Natsu said. Gray looked at him.
"I know where a bridge is." He said before running off into that direction. Gray ran as fast as he could, dodging people as he went. He stopped at the foot of the bridge, he looked up to find Juvia standing on it, leaning over the railing. "Juvia?" He called, the girl looked over.
He face was red, and puffy from crying. "I'm sorry." Gray said. Juvia looked back down at the water that was four feet below her.
"Juvia please, I'm so sorry I never meant to lash out at you." Gray said, Juvia didn't look at him.
Gray stepped on the bridge and walked over to her. "If you don't forgive me, I understand. I messed up badly, and I'll accept it if you hate me now." He said leaning over the railing beside her.
Juvia looked at her for a brief moment. Before wiping her tears away. "You shouldn't be the one apologizing, I should be, I'm the one who told you to join basketball. Which I should've of known you wouldn't agree to it. I'm sorry Gray." She said.
Gray grabbed her by the sleeve, pulling her into a hug. "Don't. You did nothing wrong." He said. Juvia hugged him back hiding her face in his chest. "I don't wanna lose you, Gray" she spoke softly.
Gray squeezed her tighter to his chest. "I don't wanna lose you either." He replied lifting her chin and leaning down.
Juvia leaned in, the crack between the two, shrunk and shrunk. Only a slight space between the two. Juvia could feel Gray's breath on her face. She placed her hands on his cheeks. Gray pulled her more closely. Their lips grazed eachother, before...
