"What happened?" Gray asked. Natsu was silent before answering. 'After Juvia walked in the house, she went up to take a shower, and forty minutes go by and she hadn't came out yet, so I go in there to find her, passed out in the floor. She hadn't even made into the shower."
"Where is she?" Gray asked. Natsu was again silent. "Juvia's in the hospital, she's getting worse Gray." Natsu said. Gray went feeble. "How much worse."
"A lot." Natsu said.
The next day, Natsu and Gray go to visit Juvia but when they arrive the doctors pushed them out of Juvia's room, as they rushed in. Gray and Natsu watched as Juvia's hand clutched the bed railing, then fell limp. The doctors began CPR. Natsu trembled, as he watched.
Gray stood frozen in place, the doctors got Juvia's heart beating again. A flood of relief poured through Gray.
A week passed, Juvia wasn't allowed to go home anymore, her legs began to give out she had no more strength in them. She was scheduled for surgery, to help cure the disease, in a few weeks. Gray and Juvia sat on the bench on the roof looking at the sky.
Juvia began to sing silently as Gray watched her. Gray stood up. "Juvia I got this to give you." He said handing her a paper.
Juvia opened it and read it. "You got me, my very own seat for your games?" She asked. Gray nodded. "You also get in for free."
Juvia teared up, and tried to stand, but fell, Gray caught her. She clutched onto his shirt and buried her face into his chest. "I don't want to die, Gray, I want to go to your games, and watch you win, I want to Caramade Franks with you." She said through the tears, choking on her words.
"You won't die." He said reassuring her, and hugging her. Her whimpers became softer, as she fell sleep in Gray's arms. Gray lifted Juvia up in his arms, and carried her bridal style back to her room, and tucked her in. "Sleep well, Via." He said, kissing her on the forehead and walking out of the room
Weeks passed, Gray's basketball team was winning every game, Juvia was allowed to go them, but she was accompanied by a doctor at all times. After the most recent win, Gray's coach told them that they were going to the finals.
"Juvia, we get to go to finals!!" Gray exclaimed. Juvia clapped her hands, and wiggled a little dance in her wheel chair. "But it's on the day of your surgery." Gray also said. Juvia grabbed his hand.
"I don't care, you're going to that game, you don't need to be stuck in a hospital worrying about me." She reassured, Gray held her hand. "Then I'll win it for you." He promised.
The doctor told Juvia it was time to go back to the hospital, she'd been out to long. Gray waved as she disappeared into the night. "I need to make every moment with her count." He thought.
The following Saturday, Gray wheeled Juvia through the garden, stopping in front of some magnolias. He picked one and gave it to Juvia. "Here." He said as she took the flower.
"It's beautiful." She said.
"Not as beautiful as you." Gray replied, as he pushed her wheelchair more. The two passed over a bridge in the Hospital's garden. As long as Juvia stayed on the Hospitals grounds she did not need a doctor to accompany her.
"Gray, thank you for staying with me through all of this." Juvia said looking at her pale sickly hands. Gray smiled. "You're welcome."
Gray pushed the wheelchair under a willow tree where Natsu and Gajeel had set up a surprise for Juvia. A peaceful spot for her to rest and relax. "They did a good job." Gray announced.
"They did." Juvia said, as Gray stopped pushing the wheelchair, and locked the wheels. He sat in front of the wheelchair so Juvia could talk him.
Juvia's hair had grown pale, and dead. "Gray can you cut my hair, I'm tired of it being like this?" Juvia asked. Gray nodded his head. "I don't have anything to cut it with." He replied.
"I always come prepared." Juvia said, pulling out a pair of scissors, she carefully placed them in Gray's hand. "How short?" Gray asked standing up and walking behind her.
"Above my shoulders please?" Juvia replied. Gray closed his eyes as he cut the first bit of hair off. The limp hair fell to the ground. After Gray cut to Juvia's requested length. He took his phone out and took a picture of her.
"There." He said showing her the picture. Juvia gasped in joy, as she touched her hair. "This looks really good. I love it." She squealed.
"Can I take a picture of us together?" Gray asked. Juvia nodded. Gray took the picture and looked at it. Juvia's smile in the picture was so warm and friendly. He looked at it more before setting it as his wallpaper.
After collecting Juvia's cut off hair, the two returned to her room, where Natsu was waiting. "Juvia, I forgot how you looked with short hair." Natsu said ruffling it. Gray and Natsu helped Juvia back into her bed.
"Two more weeks until my surgery, and I start physical therapy tomorrow, because I need to have a little strength in my bones." She said. Natsu nodded. "Then you'll be healthy again, and you'll be able to do whatever you want." Natsu said.
