This SUNDAY, This Big Day
Christina’s POV
“Good morning everyone.” Kiniss ko si Grandma, Mommy at Daddy. “Hi, mga kapatids.”
“I told you not to talk like that Christina.”
“Sorry grandma.”
“It’s cool anak.” Sabi naman ni Dad na parang bagets. I smiled at him. “I know Dad.” I mouthed to him as I laughed.
Maya-maya tumayo na si Grandma. “You’re done Grandma??”
“Yes, Apo.”
“Wala pa po kayo halos na kinakain ah.”
“It’s okay. Aakyat na ko ha.”
“Hmm.” When I looked to Mommy, she’s looking at the floor and Daddy held her hands. I smiled. I like how they support each other. I know there is something wrong. Grandma doesn’t want Mommy for Dad. For her, it’s only my Mom who fits Dad. But for me, as long as Dad was happy. And I know that what Mom wants.
I saw how devastated he was when Mom’s gone.
… And I know, I’m not enough.
Pagkatapos kumain… tatayo na sana si Daddy pero- “WAIT!! Dad.” Lumapit ako sa kanya at kumandong.
“Anak, don’t do that again. Baka atakihin ako sa puso eh.”
“Dad… ano.. pwede ba kong magshopping??”
“That’s it??”
“Yup. But I want to have this day for me. Please. Sasama ko na lang si Lola Mila.”
Bigla na lang may nabasag na baso. Pagtingin namin si Lola Mila. “Lola??” We all laughed. Nagulat ata siya sa sinabi ko. Hindi pa ba siya sanay???
“45 pa lang akong bata ka ha.”
“E di ba po may anak na yung mga anak niyo? Just let me call you like that ha. Please.” I looked back at Dad. “So… Dad?????”
“……….curfew is at 7pm. Okay??”
“YES!!!” I kissed him all around his face. “Thanks Dad. Love you. You’re the best.” He caressed my head. When I looked at them, they are all laughing but.. I notice different reaction from the others. And that is Correen. I smiled at her, and then she smiled at me.

“Why don’t you let me accompany you instead?” Sabi niya habang inaayos ang damit ko. I can’t wear it later.
“Grandma. Sige na po ha. Just let me have this day. Please.”
“Hmm.. Okay I know why you want to.”
Huh?? She knows?? She knows about Louie?? “Ah hahaha kayo talaga. Sige po. Alis na ko Grandma.” At yun tumakbo na ko pababa.
“Don’t run Iha!” Pahabol na sabi ni Grandma.
“Let’s go Lola.”
“Hay nakung bata to.” Daddy’s at work so does Mom. Kuya and Corren are at there room so I’m not going to disturb them.
Nang makapasok na kami sa kotse. “Lola Mila.”
“Oh?”
“Do you love me?”
“Syempre naman Iha. Ako ang isa sa mga nagpalaki sa iyo. Isa pa tinuturing na kitang parang anak.”
“Apo?” I laughed so she does.
