Friendship
Christina’s POV
“I can’t believe this Christina. You came home before seven and go out without remembering Hayes birthday party?”
“Pero Grandma, nakalimutan ko po talaga.”
“My God, Christina. For how many years na kaibigan mo si Hayes? This is the first time.”
Nasa living room kami ngayon. Nandun si Mommy at Daddy. Sila Kuya naman at Correen nasa gilid ng pinto.
When Lola noticed them- “What? Is it entertaining? Umakyat kayo!”
“Ma!” Sabi ni Daddy.
“It’s okay Dad.” Sabi ni Kuya Paulo. Pagkatapos nun-
“What’s wrong apo? What’s happening to you? You ruined his birthday party. You’re supposed to be there. You’re in the programme.”
“Grandma. I-”
“I think Hayes, felt embarrassed dahil hindi siya lumabas sa party. The party was ruined!”
“Ma, I’m sure Chirstina has a good reason for it.”
“And what it is?”
… I can’t tell them. I can’t.
If I say it… Grandma will surely get me and go to back to US or worst in France again. Then I can’t see Louie anymore.
“What? Is this a silent treatment Christina?” Grandma. “Do you want to go back to US??”
“Grandma.”
“Tell me.” I stand up.
“Sorry Grandma. Daddy, Mommy. I will make things right. This is a mess I’ve created. Sorry. Mauna na po ako.” Umalis ako doon.
“Christina!” Habol na sabi sa akin ni Grandma.
“Is she on rebellious stage now?
“She’s still a child Ma.” Narinig ko bago ako makaakyat.
Pagpasok ko sa kwarto. Tinawagan ko si Hayes. But he’s not answering.
“Are you free this Sunday?”
“Sunday?? Sorry, Hayes, I have to go somewhere eh.” Nakita ko ang mga ngiti sa mga labi niya. Wha’s wrong??
