After the attack against the rebel forces, Kylo Ren had stopped meddling in the affairs of others. He had been neglecting his duty as the new supreme leader and was constantly alone. For the past few days he had only been able to think of one thing...
Rey's p.o.v ---------------- As Ben reached his hand out to me I could do nothing but hold my breath. I felt myself becoming lightheaded, I couldn't breathe. What was he doing? Was he trying to trick me? Or maybe.....had he finally begun to accept the light?
I stared at his eyes for a couple of seconds, trying to look past the cloud of darkness I saw shrowd over them, debating on whether or not I should follow him. And then I decided. I would not let fear take over me. I wouldn't make the same mistake again.
I slowly reached out my hand and looked him in the eyes again, clasping my hand around his. We both let out a breath that we had been holding for what felt like hours; a breath I didn't know he had been holding. He slowly helped me up off of the ground, his eyes piercing my whole existence as soon as mine met his; searching me; examining me. "Follow me. We won't be going very far." He started walking back towards the dark pool of water that lied in front of us.
I didn't know where we were going, and I didn't know if this was a trick, but I had to take my chances. So I followed him; I stayed close behind him, but not too close. I didn't want my curiosity to be the result of my downfall. Then he suddenly walked towards the edge of the pool and turned his face towards me. "Is this the only way out?" He sounded irritated, probably not wanting to get his clothes wet. "Yes." I kept my answers short, not wanting to start unwanted conversations. And I didn't want to annoy him. Who knows what he would do to me then.
He turned his head back towards the pool and I heard him sigh in defeat. And then suddenly, he jumped in. He sank lower into the water and then popped his head above the dark liquid. "What are you waiting for? Come on." He looked at me, waiting for me. I walked towards him and jumped in, just as he did.
I held my breath as I went under, and slowly emerged from the water. I looked at Ben as he started to swim forward towards the vines that would lead to our escape from this place. He reached the tangles of black and started to climb. I followed behind him and mimicked his movements, trailing right underneath him.
I watched as he reached the top and pulled himself out of the abyss. I did the same soon after, awaiting his next instructions. I was scared to death about what he was trying to show me. I still didn't know what it was, but I was terrified nonetheless.
Ben's p.o.v ---------------- I turned around and watched her climb up and out of the abyss. I wondered where we should go; whether I should show her what I had been trying to show her for days. I had tried contacting her through our mind force, but it never happened. It stopped after I killed Snoke. And when I found out that it was gone, I was disappointed; very disappointed.
"So, what did you want to show me?" Rey looked at me, awaiting my answer, but I didnt know how to give her one. "Well, is there somewhere that we could talk, privately?" I wanted to show her something, but I wanted to be somewhere else; somewhere away from everything.
"I know somewhere it's just this wa-" As she began to turn to head towards wherever she was planning on taking us, I heard a voice, and immediately placed my hand over her mouth to prevent her from speaking. "REY! PO WANTS TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT SOMETHING!" I heard his voice not too far from us, and I knew who it belonged to: Finn. My blood boiled at the sound of his voice, and I decided that it would be best to get away from him; far away, before I did something that I would regret.
I looked at my surroundings, trying to find somewhere away from him where he wouldn't find us. I spotted a burnt tree not too far away. It had a hole in it, almost like an entrance, and I dscided that would be the best place to go. "Let's go." I released my hand from her face and grabbed it, pulling her towards the tree. I listened to my surroundings, listening for Finn, but I didn't hear him anymore.
I quickly walked into the tree and pushed her against the wall, placing my hand back over her mouth. I looked at her and placed my finger over my lips, telling her to be quiet. I put my finger down and released my hand from her mouth. I then looked towards the entrance of the tree, listening for Finn. When I didn't hear anything, I looked back at Rey.
She looked scared; scared of me. I didn't know what to say or do. I didn't know how to show her that I didn't want any harm to come to her, ever. "Don't worry. I heard Finn. I had to get away from him." Our faces were only inches away from each other, and I had to back away from her. I would have exploded otherwise.
"Why?" Her question shocked me. I didn't know if I could answer. I was scared that she might become even more afraid of me, but I chose to answer her honestly. "I would have killed him if we had come face to face. I didn't want to do that, especially with you next to me." I felt my jaw clench as I told her that. As I waited for her response I walked deeper into the tree towards a small shelf full of books.
Rey's p.o.v ---------------- "Please don't." I looked at his large back as I spoke to him. Then he turned around and faced me. "What?" He looked at me confused. I walked towards him, scared. "Please don't kill Finn. He's my only friend." I was terrified as I walked up in front of him. He took two steps forward. We were so close to each other that I could feel his hot breath against my face.
"Why do you think I ran. I didn't do it for him...." I watched as he looked at the ground for a few seconds. Then he raised his head. "I did it for you." His statement shocked me. It was at this that I had started to cry again. "What?" I barely managed to speak. "You heard me." He looked deeper into my eyes, staring through my existence once again, and I couldn't understand him.
"Rey.....I want to show you something. I've been wanting to for a while now. Will you let me?" I didn't know what he wanted to show me, and I didn't know if I wanted to see it, but I was curious. I looked him in the eyes, looking past the shroud of darkness, and saw something else; something that intrigued me; something...............beautiful.
