The two bands ran out of the building into the giant city of Los Angeles. The Beatles have never been since they are from England and were only visiting to begin their U.S. tour, but The Monkees were very used to the city since it was where they originated.
All eight members started going around town. They went to bars, clubs, and shops until the sun was about to come up. Drunk and exhausted, the lads and boys decided to sit on a curb in front of a bar.
"So," Paul bagan. "How did you all meet?"
The Monkees looked at each other, slightly hesitant to answer.
"Uh," Mike began. "We met on the set of our T.V. show."
The Beatles seemed surprised. They had no idea they had a T.V. show.
"Wow!" yelled John followed by a hiccup. "It took us a few years to get our own movie, and you guys already have a T.V. show!"
"How did you get a show so quickly?" asked Ringo.
The Monkees seemed slightly embarrassed and at a loss for words. Mike was brave enough to speak the truth.
"We aren't technically a real band," he admitted. "We became a band for the show."
"But we still write our own songs and play our own instruments!" Micky exclaimed.
Mike looked annoyed. There was no use in hiding. "No, we don't!" he yelled. "We are trapped under our management and they won't even let us write or play our own stuff in the recording studio! All we do is sing and act!"
The Beatles were shocked. They thought they made new friends, new competition. Instead, they found frauds.
"So..." John began, trying to make some sort of sense out of the situation. "You guys aren't even a real band?"
"No, we are!" Davy tried to rebuttal. "We just aren't allowed to express any ideas or put any originality into our stuff."
"That's horrible," Paul sympathized. "I bet you lads are incredibly talented, and you deserve a real chance to show that!"
"Thanks guys," Micky smiled. "I hope our show does well, because that would really suck if it didn't."
They all laughed and simply enjoyed each other's company. Ranks or popularity didn't seem to matter or damage their friendship.
Well, at least not yet.
All of a sudden, their conversations were interrupted by someone who was snoring very loudly.
"Hey, who's sawing logs?" Micky asked.
They all turned around and saw George passed out on the curb.
"I think it's about time we headed home," Ringo chuckled.
"Taxi!" Davy yelled as he was barely able to wave his hand in the air. "You guys can take this one."
The Beatles woke George up and carefully entered the cab.
"Was swell spending time with you all!" Paul waved.
"See you soon!" Davy waved back, as the taxi drove into the distance and amother one came up not too far behind.
"They're all so nice," Peter smiled.
The others agreed as they entered their cab and headed home.
