The Enhanced Trooper

Chapter XLI

ALL AROUND ME troopers are retreating. By now they have all dropped their weapons and they run towards the nearest cargo ship. I watch as each one drops like flies and how some try to race on to a ship but they are already closing the doors. The troopers jump tying to grab on to anything that will get them off this moon.
I shake my head and assume to my task. I have to be fast if I am going to make it on a shuttle. Meaning I am going to have to forcefully drag Kylo on to one. Knowing him he won't leave unless we have won.
I can't see him but I can hear his light saber. I close my eyes relying on the enhancement as I follow what my ears tell me.
    I open my eyes just in time to see a his saber barreling towards me. I back bend as it sails inches away form my body. When I get back up I place a hand on my staples one of them was becoming loose. "Kylo stop its me! Sal!"
    He whips around and at first he doesn't recognize me without my armor I guess I am not recognizable to him. He lifts his saber and I prepare myself to fight him but then realization spreads on his face. He lowers his weapon as I let out a sigh of relief.
   "What are you doing here you should be back in the sick bay."
   "I couldn't leave you here. Besides I was the one who sent you back out to battle so I am the one who will bring you back."
   We stare at each other almost forgetting we are standing in the middle of a battle field. Suddenly I hear a blaster go off. My eyes trace the bullet as I scream. "Kylo look out!" I race towards him and push him away but I am to slow. The bullet clips his shoulder.
   He stumbles a little bit but doesn't look the bit shocked. He rolls his shoulder as f it was nothing.
   I grab his other fore arm. "We need to go." I try to drag him but he won't budge.
   "Why?"
   I stop as I turn to look at him. "Why! Well because you just got his with a bullet and I frankly don't want to be left when everyone is gone."
  "Wait what do you mean gone?" Almost as if it was the first time Kylo observes his surroundings. Everyone they are gone.
    "What this can't be?" He whispers to himself. Suddenly Kylo falls on one knee. I run to him and bend down placing both hands on his shoulder.
   "Kylo What is wrong?"
  "Nothing I am fine." He tries to eat up but falls again.
   I quickly look at his robes and notice a couple spots where it is thick with a liquid. "Kylo your bleeding!"
   "I am fine. Pain is power." He grunts. 
  "No you are not we have to go now! Can you walk."
  He gets up with my help and begins to walk but I know that we won't make it to the last cargo ship. I decide to arrest him my limit as I bend my knees grabbing Kylo's legs and throwing him over my shoulder.
   I grunt and I almost fall down but it gives me the strength to carry him. By now Kylo has blacked out from the loss of blood and I know if I didn't have the enhancement I would have done the same thing a long time ago.
   I take the First step as I ease into it and slowly my steps become faster until I am sprinting. I look around for the cargo ship as I spot it meters away.
I am not going to make it. No I have to try.
   I put my head down as I focus all my energy into pumping my legs faster. I look up I am a meter away. Faster.
  The ship ramp begins to close. I scream but it doesn't stop. I run faster but it doesn't stop. The door is closed but I am right there. I rush dropping Kylo as o take one of my hands and bang on the door. You would think having the commander of the First Order in your arms would give you a bonus  but they don't care they power up the engines.
    I run to the front of the shuttle we're the pilots will see my I wave my arm and scream. They either don't see me or choose not to because I watch in horror as the shuttle picks up and begins to hover. There's nothing I can do. But I keep trying. I band and scream as loud as I can.
   The shuttle suddenly without warning powers up and blasts off into the atmosphere.
   I stand there as I watch it get smaller and smaller.
    I hear a blaster which reminds me I am still in a war. I spin around scanning the area. There are no more ships and I am surrounded by Resistance members.
     I then do what any sensible person would do. I run.
    I run into the jungle not caring if I know where I am going. I only know that I have to get out of here or else I will die.
    I jump over stumps and run by trees that seem to grab out at me. I let my sense guide me as I look behind to see if I have an Rebels following me. Luckily they didn't because otherwise situation would have gotten a lot worse.
    I finally stop thinking it is far enough away. I carefully place Kylo down leaning him against a tree. He hasn't waken up which is surprising because of how loud I was.
    I sit next to him resting my head as I close my eyes. I tell my body I am not done yet. I curse myself for not properly researching this planet. I thought it was going to be a hit and run.
   But either way I search what I did learn. The only thing I can seem to remember  is a mountain called Flat Mountain of Yavin. What an original name.
    I don't know where else to go and I know at least the mountain might have shelter to get to before night fall. I know that the mountain is close. But I can recall where it is.
    I decide to climb tree to look at my surroundings. I get up and look upwards. There is a brach a good 10 feet above me so I bend low and spring upwards. I land on both feet balancing on the tree limb. I then start scrambling up the tree grinch with gracefulness. When I reach the tree top I slowly poke my head out. I turn around and look for anything that vaguely resembles a mountain.
    I finally see it. It is not to far from here. It is about mid day now and I will probably make it by sun down. Just enough time to look for something to help Kylo's injuries.
    I quickly shimmy down the trunk and I jump the rest of the way.
    I when I turn to Kylo he has turned a deathly pale and I know I have to get going fast.
