Terrible, terrible confessions

Izzy's POV:

I stood there; trying to absorb the situation that i was in. I was in my own world, my heavy eyes and shaky legs making it worse. My dad cleared his voice, which brought me back to reality. I looked at my mum, who had an uncertain look plastered on her face. Yes, she should feel guilty. I mean how could she seriously let in the guy who broke her heart, the guy who literally broke her into-

"Look at my darling, you just turned out to be just as i imagined." said my dad with a proud look on his face, bringing me back to reality and breaking the unusually uncomfortable silence. Anger was boiling inside of me. Is he serious? I narrowed my eyes, listening to what else he has to say.

“What kind of father am i to not greet you appropriately," he continued, simultaneously coming towards me to embrace me into a 'fathrly-daughter' hug. His tall body came hovering over my petite one. He was like 6'3! I immediately broke free from the hug. I could see why my mum fell for him; tall, black hair and strickingly deep-blue eyes. His handsome features would draw attention from any woman of his age. I shook my head, trying to get back to the situation that I was in.

"Get out!" I hissed under my gritting teeth. I didn't need to look myself in a mirror to see my enraged face.

"Darling, why don't you_"

"You’re out of this mum," I snapped. I looked back at my dad, who wasn't expecting to hear what i have just said.

"First you leave us hanging, completely abandon us for another woman, and then you still have the balls to come here," I yell.

"Elizabeth. Language!” snaps my mom at me.

The door opens abruptly, and the cool air hits me. Some lady comes in unexpectedly, and she strightens up her skirt, her incredibly high heels clicking against the apartment wooden floor. She had a friendly smile on her face. She was pretty, with her blonde hair tied up in a high ponytail and flawless skin. She turned to my father and a she gave out a sigh of relief. So they knew each other. She was probably his new wife.

"Mark, so this is your daughter right. She looks just like you," she said with a smile. I looked at my mom who stood there, looking more hurt then ever. A pang of sadness hit me. She was still in love with my dad, and the fact that he was with someone else was probably unbearable to her.

'Actually, she looks more like her_" I cut him in before he continue.

"I think its time for you and your hooker to leave," I said coldly. The lady looked at me; her mouth wide open, and it looked like it could actually fall to the ground. She was clearly shocked. What do you expect from someone who grew up in the ghetto? I couldn't stand any more of this crap. I was tired and not to mention angry; I literally reached my boiling point.

"Just get out!" I screamed. Everything became quite. My mum and dad broke into a long stare, as if they were talking sign language without the hand getures, the thing parents usually do when they are trying to hide something from you. My mum broke from the stare first and she dropped her gaze to the floor.

"I think its time we should leave," my dad started slowly. He had a hurt look plastered on his face. Even though i was completely disrespectful and rude, I couldn't care less and didn’t give in to his facial expression.

"Yes, I think that would be best," I added rudely. My dad left, the woman trailing behind him.

My mum went ahead and took the mundane task of closing the door. She glared at me angrily. Now she was being serious when half of the time she wasn’t, but I couldn’t blame her.

“That was extremely unnecessary and disrepectful Elizabeth, despite everything, he is still your father,”she shouts.

Her face was already turning a deep shade of pink.

“Yeah, says the same person who was_” realisation immediately hit me and I stopped. My mom looked at me, and tears spring to her eyes. My chest tightened painfully.

Seeing your mom hurt feels like getting punched in the gut severely.

“Mom…” I trailed.

“He said he loved me,” she said in a broken voice. I tried to interfere but she cut me off.

“He said I was the best thing he has ever experienced, and that he would always be by my side,” she continued. Tears were now streaming down her red cheeks and puffy nose.

“We were so happy when you were born, and the fact of him leaving crossed my mind. I thought if I gave him a chance tonight maybe he would come back. Maybe, just maybe we would be family again. Im so sorry baby,” she broke into sobs. Tears started to weal up in my eyes.

‘This is so not you izzy’ said my annoying inner voice. I simply brushed it away.

“Listen,” I said to my mom, cupping her face in my hands.

“You’ve been both a father and a mother to me, ok, and I have no regrets growing up without a dad. As long as I have you, I’d be fine” I finish.

My mom pulls me into a hug, and I hug her back. Life is a bumpy road, and it has ups and downs.

Finally, she speaks her voice less shaky

“I love you,” she whispers in my hair.

“I love you, too,” I whisper back.
