Kara hadn't been able to stop thinking about the soft, sweet smell of human blood all day, so much so she eventually had to ask her sister and Maggie to leave her room, scared she would suddenly loose control and her new vampire self would take charge. She was lying in her bed alone, a bag of human blood that Rebekah had stolen from the local hospital was sitting ready to be eaten on the bedside table, but Kara couldn't quite bring herself to do it even though her time was running out.
She had so many questions about what it would mean to be a vampire, how much control was she going to have over herself? Would she change completely, or stay the same Kara she had always been? Kara thought about Lucy, about the rest of her life she left behind in New York the minute she decided to help Lena in her mission to save her brothers...Wait? Lena's brothers? What happend to Damon and Stefan? Was Lena able to rescue them? Kara couldn't remember seeing any signs of the Salvatore brothers being in that awful place Klaus was keeping her prisoner, maybe they were to late after all.
There was a faint knock on the bedroom door, which startled Kara what should have been hardly a noise made her eardrums ring in pain, Kara guessed she still wasn't used to having heightened senses. Lena popped her head round the corner of the door, she must have gone for really long bath because even Kara in her blood thirsty state couldn't smell the blood that she was once covered in, instead she smelled very strongly of strawberries.
"Can I come in?" Lena asked gently, Kara nodded her head, as Lena entered the room quietly aware of the whole heightened senses scenario. Remembering when it happened to her all to well. Lena sat down on the edge of Kara's bed as the blonde shuffled up to create more room, not that the brunette needed it. Lena remained silent for a few seconds just staring at the blondes new pale complexion, a pained look in her eye, that only someone who has lost everything would wear. "Damon and Stefan didn't make it, they were already dead when I went back to check the mansion after killing Klaus." Lena admitted. Kara didn't know quite what to say, after everything that had happened they hadn't had time to talk about what their letters to one another revealed about their feelings.
"I'm sorry Lee, I'm so sorry" Kara said, she couldn't help but feel partly responsible, if Lena hadn't put all of her energy into finding and rescuing her then maybe her brothers would still be alive. Lena winced slightly as she picked up the bag of blood from the bedside table, holding it in her hands.
"You haven't touched it." Lena paused looking at Kara, her oh so perfect eyebrows her furrowed in confusion, "Kara you have to drink it or you'll die." Lena said holding the bag out to Kara who had to use all of her will power to not devour the blood right there and then. Kara shook her head pushing the bag away, which seemed to only receive a growl in response from Lena.
"I can't" Kara whispered, she didn't want to risk turning into a creature that could kill Alex or Maggie if she was hungry enough, she couldn't put her sister in danger like that. Lena took a deep breath as she took the blondes hand in her own, leaning closer to Kara so their faces were only a few feet away from one another.
"I have lost too many people that I love in the centuries that I have roamed this earth and I am not about to loose the girl that I love because she's scared that I made her into a monster, nothing could ever make you a monster Kara, you're to good a person." Lena paused for a moment her breath beginning to labour due to shear emotion. "In time my soul will heal from all the losses I have suffered but I don't think I could ever recover from losing you." Lena's voice cracked slightly, as her emerald eyes flickered up at Kara, who was shocked to say the least that Lena was opening up to her, was being vulnerable, something the brunette did not to often, she was always so scared to show weakness of any kind, but here she was showing it to Kara.
"You love me?" Kara asked, she could feel Lena's warm irregular breathes beating off her own pale lips. Lena smiled, as she chuckled slightly nodding her head to answer Kara's question, she had never been so brutally honest in her life with someone, not since Reign. Kara leaned forward snatching the bag of blood from Lena's hands, as he did so she accidentally brushed her lips against the brunette, and due to her new found super senses she could swear she heard Lena's heart skip a beat.
"I'm in love with you to" Kara aid as she ripped open the packet of blood, but just as she was about to lift it to her lips Lena stopped her.
"Are you sure?" Lena asked seriously.
"About loving you, or about turning myself into an immortal equivalent of a leech?" Kara retorted, a cheeky smile on her face, Lena furrowed her eyebrow slightly, not sure what to say. "Yes Lena I'm sure" Kara confirmed, before putting her mouth down to the packet of blood and in a matter of seconds it was gone. Kara had completed her transformation, Lena sighed with relief. "Okay so now we have defeated the demon himself, what do we do now?" Kara asked curiously.
"We live" Lena answered simply, pulling Kara into a passionate kiss, she could still taste the human blood in the blondes mouth, which unsurprisingly made her hungry and horny.
