On Saturdays, I usually stay at home to draw or binge on YouTube videos. Sometimes I'll go out with Rigel to one of the homeless people shelters he volunteers at and help out.
However, today is different. Today I'm no home-body who's simply going to lounge around the house in my favorite blue lollipop pajamas, playing with my cat, Tabby.
Today, I'm on a mission to be a social butterfly. Or, you know, at least take a peek out of my shy cocoon.
I've been spending all day deciding on what to wear to the party tonight but to no avail. Granted, I don't actually have an idea of what people wear to those sorts of occasions.
And granted, my wardrobe choices mostly consists of baggy sweaters, comfy t-shirts and Rigel's old hand-me-downs.
People don't actually wear dresses, right? That would be too formal. But a simple t-shirt would make me look lazy and I'm not about to embarrass Garrett in front of his friends.
"Luna! Poppy and Jayden are here!" I hear mom shouts from downstairs, making me jolt out of my daydream.
"Come upstairs!" I shout in return.
Keep it together, Luna! Stop being a weirdo. This good-looking and sweet guy likes you enough to bring you to a party filled with his friends! "Don't do anything stupid," I whisper to myself.
A few seconds later, Jayden's face peeps into my bedroom door. "Hey," she coos. "Fashion emergency?" Jayden wiggles her eyebrows playfully.
I giggle as they both enter my room and instantly crash on the bean bag chairs.
Poppy's wearing headphones and takes them off before looking at me. "I don't get it. Shouldn't you just wear normal clothes? It's just a high school party."
I stare at her quizzically. Has Poppy been to that sort of parties without me and Jayden knowing? "Have you ever been to one, Poppy?"
She shrugs. "Sort of. Phoebe once threw something like that at our house when our parents went on their vacation in Vermont. I think my sister's friends just wear normal stuff like they do at school."
Oh, I've never thought that one of us had experienced one firsthand. And at their own house too. Although, technically, Poppy didn't really quote unquote 'party' because knowing her, she probably just stayed in her room the whole time.
Unlike her, Poppy's big sister Phoebe is different. She's a pretty big deal at her college, is active in sports and always wear fashionable clothes.
Poppy, on the other hand, prefers to stay off radar and is always seen wearing conservative stuff like cute dresses that passes her knees.
"Hmm." I look at Jayden who's on her phone. "So what did you bring, Jayden?" I ask, pointing at her backpack. Before she came here, I asked to borrow her clothes that she would find suitable.
