Chapter 7~ Forget Him
(Serena's POV)
"Christian killed him." Her words were stuck on a never-ending cycle that just kept going in my head. As they continued to repeat all I could think of was why. Why did Christian kill Jonathan and what's changing him? I just don't understand why he did what he did. The only thing I can come up with that would change him is Dracula. Maybe he finally broke Christian.
"Serena, are you ok?" I looked up to meet Lucius's gaze. I could tell that losing Jonathan was taking a toll on everyone but it seemed that Sky and Lucius were taking the brunt of it.
"Yeah, Lucius, I'm fine. It's just that I can't understand why Christian would kill Jonathan and then hurt me. He's changed and I don't know why." Lucius looked down at me with a saddened gaze.
"Listen, Serena, I know you don't want to hear this but I think it's time for you to forget about Christian. I mean you said it yourself Christian is changing. Think about it Serena. Christian killed Jonathan. I know you don't like hearing about this, but think about it. Do you really have a good reason for why Christian killed Jonathan, the guy who took all of you guys in when you escaped and trained you to be ready to fight against Dracula, Verona, and Demetri!" I listened to him calmly as he practically yelled out all his frustration at me. As I thought over what he said I realized that it made sense. I just didn't want to think about trying to forget about Christian.
"Lucius, I understand what you're saying but I just don't think that I can forget about Christian." He shook is head as he looked around. Then he looked back at me before he grabbed my arm and pulled me over to Aaron and Lissa.
"Aaron, tell Serena if you think that she should forget about Christian. Be honest. Don't lie." While Aaron hesitated, Lissa took only a few seconds to nod her head slightly. Aaron looked torn before he eventually nodded his head as well.
"Really? You both think I should forget him? Why?" I looked between the two of them before I rested my eyes on Lissa.
"Listen, Serena, I get that you and Christian have been through a lot together, but with how he's changed and what he did... I just don't think that it's a good idea to hang onto him when all you're really holding onto is the old Christian." I could tell that she was about to continue but I decided that I didn't want to hear anymore.
"Serena-" I could hear Aaron's voice but I didn't stop.
"Just let her go, Aaron, she needs to get away for awhile."
I kept going as I practically sprinted away from the camp. As I got to the edge of the camp I stopped when something caught my eye. I looked over to the left and I realized that I was looking at Sky while she was at Jonathan's grave.
Then for some reason it seemed like my mind went blank as I lost my reason for running away. Instead I found myself walking towards Sky. She looked up at me as I got closer.
"I'm so sorry, Sky." She shook her head at me while offering me a small sad smile.
"It's ok, Serena, it wasn't your fault." I nodded my head absentmindedly as I thought over what I was going to say next.
"Sky, you asked me what Christian was to me and I have an answer now."
