Chapter 15~ Unexpected Victim

(Adrian's POV)

I looked around at the main hall of the castle. Everything was quiet, too quiet. It was like the castle had been abandoned. I looked behind me at Dustin and Damien as they looked around.

"We need to look around. There's bound to be someone here." I looked to Damien.

"At this point, that's pretty much all we can do."

"I don't know, Adrian. I don't like this. There's something going on here and I don't like the looks of it." I took another look around.

"You're probably right, Dustin, but what choice do we have at this point?" He shrugged as he slowly made his way forward.

"Let's just get this over with." I nodded. We moved to the end of the main hall where there were different hallways and staircases leading off to different parts of the castle.

"Lead the way, Adrian." Dustin nudged my shoulder and just as I turned around to face him, a scream tore through the air.

"That came from the prisoner area." We all slowly made our way towards the stairs leading to the prison cells until Dustin stopped us.

"What if whoever is here wants us to go down there? What if this is a trap?" I looked down, I could see the bottom of the staircase.

"Ok, I want you guys to stay up here. I'm going to go down there and see what's going on. If I don't come back then you guys need to leave, understand?" The two of them immediately shook their heads.

"No, we're not going to leave you." I sighed as the screams continued.

"Fine, if I don't come back then come down but be careful." They nodded.

I slowly went down the rest of the stairs as the screams died down and were replaced were pleading cries. As I walked down the hallway I noticed only one of the cells were opened. I quietly made my way over to it before I looked into the cell. I could see someone chained up but I couldn't make out who it was. Looking at the floor of the room I could see a shadow moving in a different part of the room that I couldn't see.

I looked back at the stairs for a second before I moved closer to the cell. As I stepped into the room I could hear movement on the opposite side of the room. I prepared myself for an attack as I walked all the way into the room.

"Please....no more. I can't take anymore...."

The woman was bleeding badly from the wounds on her back, but my attention was brought to the other side of the room. There curled up in the corner of the room was none other than Christian. I looked between the woman and Christian before I focused solely on him.

"Christian?" He looked up at me and I was shocked to see tears in his eyes.

"A-Adrian?" His voice was shaking as he tried to move even further into the corner.

"What's wrong with you?" He shook his head as he covered his face with his hands. I slowly moved closer to him.

"Adrian, tell me- tell me it isn't her. Tell me I'm just hallucinating...." He pointed to the woman that was chained up and I looked over to her. She wasn't moving and her head was lowered. I slowly walked over to her and lifted her head. I felt my breath catch.

"Christian, what have you done?" I slowly turned around to face him.

"I didn't m-mean to, A-Adrian. I s-swear." I moved closer to him and he cowered back into the corner.

"Then why the hell did you do it?! Why did you kill her?" I grabbed his arm and jerked him off of the floor.

"I-I don't know, Adrian. I-" I pulled him over to his latest victim and forced him to look at her.

"You don't know? You don't know why you just killed Serena?!"
