I Swallowed the Stars

(Trigger warning, if interpretted that way.)

The nights were so cold
And I was all alone,
But was from above
A sight to behold.

A million lights alit
On heaven's abyss.
I reached for the sky
And in my hands they fit.

Then I swallowed the stars
And they filled up my heart,
Warmed up my soul,
And demolished my wars.

But when my eyes once more
Gazed upon the abysmal shores
I saw no more starlight
Of that I was sure.

So I cried a heap.
Crystals trickled down my cheeks
Fell into my arms
And into the sky I'd leap.

Then in the dark I sat in wait
Hearing the lone voices,
Internal screams and rage
So I prayed it was not too late.

My tears have done their part
So I threw them back to the dark
Of Heaven's abyss as embers
From deep within my heart.

Now, a sight to behold
It is from above.
Though I am all alone
The nights' no longer cold.
