The Beginning of a Twisted- Eventful Path

 Part Six

Drowsy hazel eyes blinked, dark brown lashes fluttering over the fair skin as the orbs tried to adjust to the light. Nana groaned slightly as she began stretching. Then, she blinked, looking around her, taken aback.

All around were popsicles- men frozen into glistening blue ice. As the ice started to shatter, it flitted through the air, sparkling under the rays of sun that came through the broken window. Had there not been half-frozen men starting to escape from the ice-cage as the magic shattered, groaning painfully, some even cutting themselves on the sharper pieces of the cold rock, it would have been a beautiful sight.

Nana laid back lazily on the comfy velvet chair, a deep red, and crossed her legs over the deep-set wooden desk. A huge grin appeared on her face, eyes sharp and mischievous as she watched the painful scene. “Heh! I expected you guys to come! But…who told you to come as popsicles? Hahahahah!” She laughed as the last of the men were able to escape the ice that mysteriously turned into a sparkling dust instead of water.

Their eyes glanced up with a fire and hatred as they heard her contemptuous laughter. Enmity and killer intent filled the room, but she didn’t seem to notice.

Her face was an elegant one with refined features, but those same features were twisted in her smile as she looked down on them, her expression full of arrogance. “Look at the popsicles crawl! Did you know popsicles could crawl, Athan?”

“No, Nana-sama.”Answered the boy with a slight bow that made his dark, straight bangs fall slightly in his eyes. He looked up, gaze cold, face serious. Athan had always been a reserved, elegant boy with smooth movements and few, robotic words. “I don’t believe they are popsicles though.”

“You’re right.” She sneered. “They are insects.”

“I see that your headache is gone.”

She laughed, voice small and cute, completely opposite to the sadistic feeling it expressed. Ticking off the most hot-headed of the men, the leader of the group, the same one who had spoken earlier when the lacking members of the group had been there – yes, we had been gone. Didn’t you notice? – got up, blood trickling down his arm clothed in ragged black cloth as he steadied himself, using the gun in his arm to pull himself up. He faltered and slumped back down, that heavy gun all that kept his body up. With huffed, suffered breaths, he lifted his head, and chocked out: “What are you all waiting for? Attack! They have sinned against our city; have abducted our most worthy major!”

Stunned at the sudden outcry, but professionals all the same, the men took a split second before readying into position and pointing the guns at the two remaining figures in the room.

“Hehehe…Look at them readying their tiny little claws at me! They will never learn…” She chuckled darkly to herself, hand lifting as her eyes remained glued on the men. However, her arrogant smirk was soon replaced by a confused expression. Eyes still glued on them, but mind somewhere else, her brows furrowed as her hand reached towards her mouth. “Hm?” She bit at the air again, no sweet cake meeting her tongue. Finally, though suspiciously and cautiously, she turned her gaze towards her frosting covered hand.

Her hazel eyes went wide.”M-M-My…m-my…cake…?” She glanced at Athan with a desperate, pleading look as she got up from the chair. “Where…is m-my cake…?” Her shiny lips trembled, and for once her expression was pure and innocent, as a child’s.

“It was smashed into indistinguishable pieces when you pounded it ferociously upon the table.” Athan robotically answered her.

“W-What?” Her gaze flitted around, “How can that-“and landed upon the smashed mass of vanilla, pink, and blue frosting and dough. “M-My…”
