Chapter 30: Ms. Castillo and Ryan Dew Forever
I was sitting in my living room watching a rerun of The Simpsons. We had just gotten back from Las Vegas yesterday and Ms. Castillo was staying with us for a couple of weeks. She decided to move out into the mini house in our backyard. By mini house, I mean a basically regular sized house. It's just not as big as ours, so it looks mini. Ooh, did that sound vain or rude or braggy? I'm sorry, it didn't mean to come out that way!Anyway, Ms. Castillo slowly walks out with her arms stiffly behind her back. "Hey, Jade. Can I talk to you?" she asks, her voice shaky.
I nod my head and pause the TV. "Yeah, 'course! Anything!" I assured her and she smiled. She walked over to the couch oddly, not letting me see her back or her hands and sat down on the couch next to me. After what seems like forever, she says. "I'm not going to be Ms. Castillo anymore." she sighs happily. "W-What...?" I ask confused. "I'm going to be Mrs. Auri Dew." she smiles. My jaw drops. "No way!" I exclaim as I throw my arms around her. She laughs and hugs me back. She pulls away and shows me her engagement ring.
"Oh! AWWWWW! It's so cute and adorable and, AH! I'm so happy for you!" I screech happily, hugging her again. I start to cry and I heard her sniffling a few times, too. "How many people have you told?" I ask her. "None. You're the first one to know." she responded smiling. I move my hand to my heart. "R-really?" I ask her. She nods and her lip is quivering and I could tell it was taking everything in her to hold back a flood of tears. "When did you get engaged? How did it happen?" I ask. I had so many questions.
"In Las Vegas, at the Midsummer Night's Dance. After we sang, he lead me to the car and we st in it, away from the pounding music. He looked me in the eyes and slowly opened up a case and said 'You took the time to memorize me, my fears, my hopes, and dreams I just like hangin' out with you all the time. All those times that you didn't leave, it's been occuring to me I'd like to hang out with you, for my whole life...'. Get it? Like the Taylor Swift song "Stay, Stay, Stay"?" she told me. I nod and hug her. "We should have a double wedding!!!' I exclaim. Her face lights up, she hugs me, and that's how the story ended, but a new chapter had just begun.
