Chapter 26: The Grammys

After a very long week, I am ready to walk the red carpet with Ms. Castillo, Harry, and Taylor. I take a deep breath and Ms. Castillo, Harry, Taylor, and I put our hands together and stood in a circle. "One, two, three...GRAMMY'S!" we yell. I walk onto the carpet, pose for a few solos then gracefully lift my hand up and held it out to the beginning of the carpet. Ms. Castillo walks out and poses for a few with me. We do some serious, some happy, and some pretty funny pictures. Then I point to the entrance again and Harry walks out and Ms. Castillo walks off to the side and does solo poses. Harry picks me up wedding style, and we smile at the camera. Then we kiss like that and the paps go wild!

Harry puts me down and goes with Ms. Castillo. Then I take a few steps and strike a pose, Taylor walks on and adds to it. I have my hand in the air like I do on stage and Taylor has a surprised face with her arms like this:

                                     HEAD

                                 /                /

                             /                /

                          /                /

            ______     ______

(That is as good as I can show it.) It was super fun! More fun than any red carpet ever, and that's surprising because the Red Capet is usually my favorite part! So then we all spend about five minutes doing group poses. Again, we do serious, happy, and funny poses. Then they wave to me and I wave to them as they walk off. I spend about ten more minutes on the carpet before walking off. "That was so amazing, Jade! I can't believe you let us go on with you! I LOVED IT!" Ms. Castillo exclaimed, trying to catch her breath from all the excitement. But my first time was exhilarating as well, I am not going to lie!

"No problem! It was so fun with you guys! I think the paps really liked it too!" I tell her smiling. I see a mirror and slyly walk over to it. I just can't stop looking at this gorgeous neon yellow gown and Ms. Castillo's neon yellow heels that she let me borrow. My hair was curled and in an up-do that made me look like a princess! I loved it...but I had to stop being so vain! We had to change my make-up, change my hair,  I have to warm up, and I have to change! I tell them and we rush to wardrobe.

I slip into a changing room and the assistant wardrobe designer helped me get everything on and button everything. I walk out with overalls with shorts instead of pants, and a red-striped shirt. I slipped on my red Converse and my knee-high white socks with red bows on the knee part. I run to make up and it takes about 45 minutes to take off all current make-up and rush to put on my performance make-up on. When I stood in the mirror, I had sparkly silver eye lids, black cat eyes, and bright red lips. I smile and run with my "posse" to hair. She, simply, undoes my curled hair, washes it to get the stiff hair spray out, blow dries it, and pus my now straight hair into a tight, high ponytail.

Ms. Castillo stops me as I start running to warm up. "Hey, you look great!" she compliments me. "Oh, thanks to you! This is awesome and I have something really important to ask you when I get back!" I tell her smiling. She smiles back. I run and look at my clock. I have 5 minutes to warm up. I tell myself. My voice instructor leads warm ups and 4 minutes later I have to shoot off in a security car to get to my starting position, which would be in the audience. I am going to walk through the audience and have my dancers come out of the audience as I walk by them. THEN I will go on-stage. I got the idea from Taylor's 2013 Billboard Music Awards performance.

"This amazing girl who I love to call my former student and now friend...JADE LEON!!!!!!!!!!" a familiar voice announces. Was that Ms. Castillo? This was awesome! The spotlight hits me and the audience goes wild. "I thought one day I'd find this perfect guy, slicked back hair, bright blue eyes..." I sing. I start walking through the cleared path to the stage. "Love is blind, but love will find..." the music explodes as I get to the chorus. I have about 2 dancers behind me. I brush my fingers against the roaring audience and smile.

I have all 6 dancers and arrive at the stage. The music decreases in volume and power to a soft and slow bridge. "I never saw you coming, but, boy, am I lucky...that you caught my eye..." I continue. I finish the song and am panting. There is just something about performing in front of tons of big-name celebrity actors, actresses, singers, directors, and others celebrities. AND I have those 21,000 people singing along with me. It was amazing. "Thank you so much, guys! I love you!" I exclaim before the lights go off.

Agh! Performing made me forget about Taylor. I couldn't tell her, I needed to save her. I run off stage and spot Abigail's shadow in a tech box in the top floor above all the seats. I run to the elevator. "Come on, come on, come on.." I say to the elevator impatiently. Then, ding, I run in the elevator and it takes me to the top floor. I run to the tech box and tackle Abigail. "STOP!!!!" I yell and accidently hit a button. I hear Taylor's voice. "Just so terrible! It makes me want to barf how...Jade is!" No, this wasn't Taylor. Even if Abigail was on the floor and I was on top of her, she laughed evilly. "That wasn't me. It was you! Ha ha, you just ruined yourself." she laughed and coughed because I was still on top of her.

A tear rolled down my face, along with my mascara. "When did Taylor say that?" I wonder. Well, Abigail read my mind. "We edited it so she said that!" she says pleased. "Do you honestly want to ruin my career...and Taylor's?" I ask her. "Do you TRULY want to hurt us so much that you ruin our careers and lives?" Abigail looks at me with an "of-course" face, but then closes her eyes. "No..." she decides. "No? But then..." I question her. "Look, I just wanted to be best friends with Taylor forever...but then you came and Taylor picked you over me." she told me. "No...no she didn't. You assumed. You were a great friend, I heard." I told her smiling.

"She said I was whiney. She said I was impatient. That I was jealous." she told me starting to cry. "Well, what did you do?" I ask. "She met you and was spending a lot of time with you. And I wanted to spend time with her. But it seemed like she was just too busy with you to want to spend time with me...so I left and I have hated her ever since." she finished guiltily. "Well...I think if you would talk to her, you guys could be close friends again. Best friends, even." I tell her. "You can only have ONE best friend...hence the word BEST." she said annoyed.

"Maybe this time we can make an exception..." I tell her winking. She smiles back. "I'm sorry...it was stupid...the whole revenge thing. And I am super sorry about the Taylor thing..." she says. I hear Taylor's voice again. She was on stage. "I WAS JUST KIDDING! I wanted to see if you would believe I hate my best friend!" she says looking at me and smiling. I cup my hands in a heart shape and blow a kiss to her as I disappear out of the tech box. "I WILL talk to her...thanks Jade." Abigail yells down the hall. I give a thumbs up and run down to my seat.

I feel like having Taylor, Harry, and Ms. Castillo walk the Red Carpet with me, Ms. Castillo announcing my performance and making everything cool with Abigail was the reason that now I am a 10-time-Grammy-award winning pop sensation...
