"Because there's going to be someone who will be with you, love you, and stay with you through thick and thin."
She was so shocked because of what he said. He laughed at her expression and gathered all of his courage to ask her out, in which he did.
She smiled and accepted, giving him a hug.
The next day she waited for him to open the door and give her another reason. She didn't need the reasons to be her meaning to live anymore. She just loved how he made it into poetry. His words freshly coming from his heart and sharing it with her. His usual time for when her came was a hour before lunch. And they would go down to the cafeteria to eat together. He didn't seem to arrive yet so she patiently waited for him. She sat by the window, drinking the warm tea she was provided. She saw the busy streets and people moving through each other to get where they were needed to be. She heard the door click open and she turned around to see him.
But it wasn't him.
It was Pretty Boy.
She was sad that it wasn't him. She was confused why Pretty Boy was there. She was angry that he was there. She gave specific instructions not to let him in. She blinked and calmly went over to push the nurse button. He began to quickly walk over to stop her, but she had already pushed the button and the light had red. Pretty boy began to spill his heart out with nonsense, saying how he never wanted to end things like that, saying how he never wanted to kiss the other girl anyway. She shut his words out and asked him to leave. He wouldn't listen to her so she continued looking at the window. She glanced at the clock and noticed that he was a few hours late.
The nurse finally came and she told the nurse that she didn't want to see the boy in the room. As the nurse tried getting him out, he got angry and spewed profanities and insults at her. Infuriated, she screamed, "Going on that car ride was the reason I was put in this damned wheelchair. And it's all your fault!"
It made her feel all insecure again. When he finally left, she began to tear up while looking at the window again.
She felt a hand on her shoulder and she looked at who it was. It was him.
She felt happy but then frustration washed over her. She grabbed her novel and light hit his shoulder with it. She was infuriated how he was late but she was also relieved that he finally came. She had small streams of tears flowing on her face. She wasn't crying because of her sadness, she was crying because she realized how much she depended on him.
