Chapter 3 - Threat

MONISHA SINGH

It wasn't odd for Monisha to have a one night stand. In her line of work, that was all she could afford . Especially with the past she'd had.

After years of being trapped, she couldn't let go of the freedom her current lifestyle brought her.

And she wouldn't let this freedom go for anything. Not for all the money in the world.

Definitely not for orgasms that were beyond mind-blowing. Nope, she was not gonna stick to one guy, she was definitely not  going to give much time of her life or any thought to any guy.

She kept repeating that like a mantra in her head because she was quite confused as to why Cal had stuck in her head and had been the first thought in her head when she woke up. She hadn't even known why he was the face she woke up to and why her heart soared knowing that he hadn't left but curled right beside her using her as a teddy bear.

She couldn't deny that for the first time she connected with someone, had that chemistry and heat that she didn't much have with any other guy.

They had danced all night and boy was he not kidding when he said that he didn't know how to dance. He kept stumbling but was careful enough not to step on her toes.

Taking pity on him, she had retreated back to their place at the bar counter and spent the rest of the party talking and laughing. He had a real quirky side that her friends had failed to mention.

Every guest had been appointed a room at the resort as it was almost an hour drive from the city.

And they definitely had shared not just a room but also a bed, having the most incredible sex she'd ever had.

But still she woke up early and was now on her way back to home. She hated the fact that she had taken almost 30 minutes to contemplate whether she should just lay there in his arms and shut her eyes and go back to sleep or get the hell out of there. It was good that she freaked out when she realised that she was making up reasons to stay there some more.

She knew that she'd be seeing a hell lot of Cal. She had liked the way he was protective about the ladies, her and all her friends which meant all the ladies that were married to the Hunt brothers, Lexi, Sydney, Kayla, Karina and his boss Tessa.

Smiling, Mon pulled her car into the garage and took the elevator to the top floor.

She owned the entire floor. Once she had started to earn, she had started buying apartments left and right, she never wanted to feel that she wouldn't have a place of her own.

The moment the elevator doors opened to her suite, Mon walked in the living room and all but gasped. All that happy fuzzy feeling dissipated when she too in the condition of her house.

Her whole room was trashed, the piano she'd learned to play, which helped her calm her nerves, was broken and now resting only on one leg, there were glass shards everywhere and she could smell the alcohol in the air which means someone had broken into her mini bar, the coffee table now in small glass shards, the TV now sat on the floor all broken, her couch was torn inside out. Everything was a mess

She rushed to the bedroom where, her clothes were all ransacked but when she checked her whole house thoroughly no jewellery was taken, nothing was missing infact.

The moment she had reached one of the rooms which she had turned into a personal library, horror seeped through her.

YOU AIN'T GOING TO STAY ALIVE FOR LONG, YOU WHORE.

This was exactly what she was afraid of.Her family coming after her.

Somehow they'd found her.

The buildings security was top notch and she knew not just anybody would be able to break in.

She had thought that her family didn't care as long as she refused to set her foot back in her village.

But sure as hell there was a threat on the wall.

She shivered at the thought that her family knew that rather than choosing a bedroom, a library will be much more personal to her.

Her first reaction was always fear but this time the fear ignited a blinding rage in her.

All she had wanted was to live her life in peace. She had run away from her family because all they wanted was to beat her to death. Sure grandma had stopped them all when they were going to kill her the moment she was born but then even grandma was getting sicker and sicker and couldn't run to her rescue every single time.

The suite she was staying in, was owned by the Hunts. So no one really knew about it. The guards were told to not let anyone know about her staying at the suite. She came once a week, away from the world, away from the paparazzi.

Nobody knew about this place apart from the Hunts and she had been found.

She didn't even doubt that the Hunts would leak the information. They were good to her especially when her ex, Sean Hunt's mother had embraced her and told her that she was family.

But she was scared to death. Never had her real family bothered to contact her and now this.

Her very first reaction was to call Sean. She fished out her phone from the purse she had paired with her dress and scrolled through the contacts for Sean's number.

Just as she was about to call, she froze. She couldn't call Sean. She had once been the reason why Sean had been separated from his love, Sydney Grey.

Even though Syd didn't hold a grudge after they married, she still didn't want to barge on their life. How many times would she have to run to Sean to help her through her life.

He had a life and a wife and soon he would have kids.

Plus she didn't want anything to happen to Sean.

She knew there was only person who could help her. She hated herself for relying on people to help her.

But after she left India, she hadn't thought her family would ever hurt her.

Even though, Kayla who was married to the youngest Hunt, Daniel, had taught a few self defense moves but that wasn't enough.

She scrolled through her contacts and called the only person she could think of.
