Chapter 3 - Kill
CALLUM MCCOY
In his previous life, the life that he had left behind, Cal's only escape from his nightmarish hell was music.
He wasn't the only trained assassin that the government used to do their dirty work. He was sure he was one of the many but he also knew that he was one of the few that came out of it, not unscathed but alive.
Music was his haven. And so he belted out the lyrics, albeit wrong lyrics of whatever song blasted through the car speakers.
He smiled remembering the night before which he had spent with Monisha.
He had almost stepped on her toes not once, not twice but atleast five times on the dance floor. When it came to dancing he had all the grace of a monkey.
He didn't know why he had agreed to humiliate himself so publicly. Maybe he knew that one dance with her would lead to a night in bed. Fuck maybe, he definitely knew it would lead to sex.
And god, was it amazing.
He had literally seen stars the moment she -
The ring of his phone broke him out of his thoughts. Fishing them out of his pockets, he didn't even check the name just said Hello
There was just deep breathing on the other around so he checked the caller ID and frowned.
They had parted ways in the morning on mutual understanding that it was a one night stand, at least that was something to be understood considering she had left before he had woken up. And damn, he wasn't sure how he had fallen asleep, he never slept with anyone, he always left in the middle of the night because he didn't want to hut anyone when his nightmares began, but there he was waking up to the sunlight filtering in through the window that faced the vast expanse of greenery.
He had just left and was on his way home. And she was already calling? He never did share his number with his one night stands but Mon was family to Hunt's and that meant she was under his protection without a doubt. He had made each of the ladies save his number on speed-dial. Press 2 and you'll find Cal guarding your ass.
"Mon?" He said.
"Cal." The way she said his name put him on alert.
"Send me your location. I'll be there in-" he checked his watch. Shit. He was almost 40 minutes away with the speed he was going in.
He pressed down on the gas pedal and hoped no cops would stop him for the speed.
"Hurry." She whispered
"20 minutes. Hold on."
Hundred scenario ran through his mind. Someone had hurt her and she was scared big time. Someone had broken in and she was hiding in her closet. Or maybe someone was stalking her and she was scared.
His cell pinged at the moment with the address. One glance at the text and he zoomed through the traffic.
He almost ran into a taxi and a pedestrian crossing the road but at that moment he couldn't afford to wait and see to it that none of them had been harmed.
Right now his top priority was to reach her as soon as possible and kick some ass of whoever the douche bag was.
The next 20 minutes seemed way too long but as said he reached in time and hurried inside. Once inside he pressed almost hundred times for the elevator.
The moment elevator doors opened, Cal retrieved a knife that he always carried in his boots. It was an occupational hazard even though he wasn't in that line of business anymore.
