Chapter Six

Your mentor will be Moonheart," meowed Flamestar. Pride filled Moonheart as she touched noses with her apprentice. Her first apprentice! Hazelpelt's kits were apprentices and Goldenpaw was her new apprentice. Whitepaw was given to Sunblaze.

"Moonheart! What are we going to do?" Goldenpaw asked.

"Well let's get some fresh-kill and then we'll go hunting with Whitepaw and Sunblaze," meowed Moonheart.

"Okay!" meowed Goldenpaw. Goldenpaw walked over to Whitepaw and started sharing a mouse. Moonheart grabbed a thrush and began eating on it. Then Sunblaze walked over and they began sharing, too. Soon they headed out into the forest.

"Why don't you show them your hunting crouch?" suggested Sunblaze. Moonheart nodded and crouched. She began creeping towards a squirrel. Once she was close enough, she pounced on it and bit its throat.

"Now you guys try it," meowed Moonheart. Whitepaw and Goldenpaw nodded and began. They both managed to catch a mouse.

"Good job!" Moonheart meowed.

"Thanks!" Goldenpaw and Whitepaw meowed.

"Why don't we explore the territory, too?" suggested Moonheart.

"Good idea!" meowed Sunblaze. They began walking around.

"Over there is our training hollow where you learn and practice battle moves. And that's Sunning Rocks," Moonheart meowed, pointing her tail in the direction. "You can bask in the sun there."

"And over there is Snake Rocks. You should be careful there. Lots of adders live there," Sunblaze warned. They soon reached the RiverClan border.

"RiverClan's territory is over there," Sunblaze meowed pointing towards the border. Goldenpaw and Whitepaw gasped as a huge tree came in view.

"And that's Four Trees. On every full moon, the clans meet for a gathering," explained Moonheart.

"What's that smell?!" Goldenpaw gasped, gagging.

"That's the Thunder Path and beyond that is ShadowClan territory. And over there is the Twoleg Place," meowed Sunblaze. "Well we should get back now." Moonheart nodded and they headed back to camp. After they put their prey in the fresh-kill pile. Soon night fell and ThunderClan fell into a deep and dark sleep.
