Warriors: Moonstar's Destiny

Chapter Ten

"Moonheart, why can't we go into the forest?" whined Stormkit.

"Stormkit, you're not old enough. You're five moons old and you have to be six moons old," Moonheart replied tiredly.

"But look! I can defend myself!" meowed Stormkit. Moonheart gasped when saw Stormkit do the Leap and Hold battle move on Sandkit. When and where had he learned such an advanced move?

"Where did you learn that?" meowed Moonheart.

"Um, I think Icepaw taught me?" he meowed unconvincingly. Moonheart KNEW Icepaw wouldn't teach Stormkit a battle move, much less an advanced move. She just nodded and lay in her nest. Many things had happened over the moons, she thought. And Voleclaw had gone to StarClan because of greencough. Mousetail was devastated that her mate had died.

"Can you play with us?" meowed Silverkit, pulling Moonheart back into the present.

"I'll play with them," meowed Icepaw(One of Whitewind's kits) who stuck her head through the entrance.

"Thank you," meowed Moonheart gratefully.

"No problem," meowed Icepaw. Moonheart was grateful that Icepaw was going to play with her kits because taking care of kits was harder than it looks.

"Hey Moonheart, I got you some fresh-kill," meowed Sunblaze who came into the nursery.

"Thanks," meowed Moonheart affectionately. She licked her mate's ear and ate the squirrel gratefully.

"Where are kits?" Sunblaze asked.

"Oh, Snowpaw playing with them," meowed Moonheart.

"Well, there's only one more moon and they're apprentices," meowed Sunblaze.

"I can't wait," meowed Moonheart tiredly. "But I'll miss them."

"Are you going to die now? I mean, you're away from them right now," Sunblaze teased. Moonheart growled and jumped on him playfully. They he licked her ear and knocked her off. Then they heard a yowl.

"That sounds like Silverkit!" Moonheart exclaimed. She raced out of the nursery and gasped. A giant hawk was headed straight for Silverkit! She jumped to block Silverkit and then everything went black.
