Sokka and the others stare in shock as Shinta takes a break to calm down having to relive those memories all over again. Katara steps back after hearing what he had done to Sunako's family. Flashbacks of her own mothers death came into mind as he explained how her family fell apart shortly after killing the two men of the family.
"Y-y-your all the same..." she mutters causing Aang to look towards with worry hearing the pain and betrayal in her voice.
"I thought you loved her." She whispers once more causing Shinta to jerk up in defiance.
"I do love her! That all happened before we were even together.....The next day when she came to the shop she asked me if I killed her father and brother......" he begins to defend himself when he slowly backs off realizing what he was about to say was not going to help.
"What did you say." Sokka steps forward after consoling his sister, Shinta looks away in guilt trying to dodge the question.
"Sokka calm down I don't think forcing it out of him is going to help." Aang attempts to defuse the situation but Sokka simply ignores him.
"What.Did.You.Say." He demands in whisper causing Shinta to crack.
"I lied to her! Ya happy now? I lied to her, I knew she would turn me in or kill me herself so I lied and said it was a different assassin around the area. I couldn't stand to see her horrified face again or her cries of sadness......I......I...I couldn't stand to her hurt again because of me......obviously I failed..." he looks straight up and Sokka then let's his head drop down to look at the floor.
"A month or so later I or we had found ourselves falling for each other. She left her broken to live with me and sometimes return to the fire nation......we married there...it was a small wedding but she was happy." He smiles a little under his mask of hair, sighing he looks up towards the group seeing there hurt and betrayed expressions.
"I should've known it would be hard for you to believe me if you learned what I had done to and even especially harder when you learn why I killed her but it's to late now right? Can't repair my shattered image now..." he states with a closed eyed smile at the end.
"You all have matured, I can see that but not mature enough to understand." He sighs and looks towards the painting that Katara had dropped after hearing of what he had done. A silent tear rolls down his face as he remembers how happy they were.
"......Tell us why you killed her..." Toph says amongst the silence.
"Yeah we have matured so tell us why did you kill her." She says again and crosses her arms.
".........Ok...but I need to grab something first. I hide it in here somewhere." He states calmly causing Sokka to roll his eyes.
"I'll get it just tell me where it is." He grumbles but Shinta shakes his head no.
"I do not plan to run away and I know I can't ask you to promise me since I lied enough already." He smiles sadly as Toph huffs and let's him go, he falls onto his hands. Slowly standing up he walks towards a bedroom and kneels down next to the bed, pushing it aside he begins to pull up the floor boards. As he's doing this he hears the floor creak behind him.
"I don't recommend standing behind me like that, I don't want you to see what else I have buried here." He states calmly when notices it had started to rain......indoors. As the rain falls onto his skin small flashes of memories go through his head, looking up his eyes widen as he realizes who's memories were playing in his head.
"............Sunako......" he whispers out and slowly turns his head to look behind him. The ghostly figure of his beloved wife floats in front of the closed door.
".........Shinta..." she floats towards him until they are facing each other.
"It's nice to see you again...you still look as young as ever." She says with a smile as she reaches out and touches his cheek. The cold air that makes up her hand causes goosebumps to rise up on his skin.
"H-how are you...?" He begins to question.
"The spirits of the spirit world allowed me too." She explains, a few years slide down his face as he looks at the woman he had loved.
"So I guess you came here to tell the kids the truth. You know you didn't have to but I guess it wasn't avoidable to you...you've always held a soft spot for children even when you were basically a child yourself." She sighs as she stares down upon what he had dug up, her body lied under the floor boards wearing traditional funeral clothing but the blood stained outfit she was killed in was folded up and lied upon her chests including her short sword.
"I see you have dug up my corpse to prove something, right? Why don't you show them? I know your sword can." She cocks her head to the side in a cute yet questioning way.
"I don't want them to see......there still children Sunako even though they've seen a lot they still haven't seen someone cut down like I have. They haven't seen the life fade out of someone's eyes after you cut the apart...." he states solemnly as he looks down at Sunako's body.
"You know your going to lose them don't you..." she says as she follows Shinta's eyes.
"I know and I understand why...but......I'll still help them as best as I can until this war ends." He states with confidence as he clenches his fist.
"Ok then...just remember......you promised me...." she says as she "climbs" down into the floor and slowly fades away into her body. A single tear then slides down his face as he watches her disappear once more but he notices the blood from her wound starts to bleed once more, he sighs and picks up the item that he had came for.
"I guess a part of you can't forgive me still." He whispers with a sad smile. He gets up still drenched from the rain of tears that Sunako caused he exits the room but when he enters the living area he only sees Aang there.
"Aang......Where are the others?" He ask worriedly seeeing Aang stand there holding Shinta's sword.
"I...I saw everything......while we were waiting for you your sword began to glow so Sokka picked it up and we got transported into someone's mind and we saw you racing towards us......you stabbed them through there chest......y-y-you had so much bloodlust and anger in your eyes. After that everything went white then we were all back here..." He explains while shivering a bit as a tear rolls down his cheek, Shinta's stands there in shock.
"A-A-Aang let me explain-" he attempts to reach out for the boy when a gust of wind blows him back into a wall.
"Haven't you explained enough!" A voice yells, he looks up to see Katara standing in the door way. She walks over to Aang and pulls him into a huge, she obviously had been crying as tear streaks were down her cheeks but anger was in her eyes.
"First you lied to her about killing her family then you got close to her enough that she married you and then you kill her in cold blood! How could be so cruel Shinta......Sokka was right......we shouldn't have trusted you so easily." She states as she stares into his eyes. Aang throws Shinta's sword towards him, the betrayal and hurt in boys eyes pierced Shinta's soul.
"Lets go Aang..." she whispers loud enough for Shinta to hear. They both exit the home never to return. Shinta finally blacks out from the hit his head took when it banged against the wall.

That night Shinta awoke to darkness and the echos of animals coming alive. It was calming until he remembers what had happened ours earlier. He looks down at his sword with pure sadness and anger, he slowly stands up and kicks it away from him. His hai covered his eyes as he begins to mutter to himself why the sword would just do that, his head shots up as he quickly realizes why.
"Sunako...those tears of rain showed her memories......the sword is connected to me...they must have saw it when she was showing me hers.........it's to late now......they are long gone......wait! I know where they are going. I have to hurry before..." he began to run around to grab something's to take with until he feels a sword against his neck.
"Going where mas~ter~🎶" a voice says causing him to freeze.
"Kousuke Shisho...how did you find me?" He questions as he turns to face his student, the feeling of a blade piercing through his side causes him to lean forward and blood to leak from his mouth.
"Stupid master, by the fly patters your old gang of kids were making they were headed this way and by the stops they make they would have landed here. So why did they leave you? Is it possible that they learned of how cruel and conniving you were?" He smirks as he pushes his sword deeper into his old masters gut, Shinta clenches his teeth in pain.
"Aawww is it hurting now? I hope it is, I put a certain poison on this blade, I believe you would remember it as "Dragon spit"." He stated with an evil grin seeing the poison begin to take affect. His blood felt as if it was boiling, he began to sweat and clench his teeth tighter, Kousuke slowly removes the sword and laughs as his old master collapses to the floor in pain.
"It was nice seeing you again master, I know Azula would have wanted me to bring you back alive but I couldn't help myself to see you suffer before you died. Oh and I forgot this version of dragon spit I've added a few special affects to it, well good bye master......see you in hell." He walks off but slowly reaches out for the wooden wall of them home and sets it ablaze.
Shinta coughs up blood and attempts to trip him but fails, Kousuke leaves as quickly as he came. Shinta screams in agony and begins to thrash his body around in pain, hot tears begin to slide down his face as he sees the fire spread quickly. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, he opens them quickly and crawls over to his sword. He grabs it and begins to crawl to the back door when a piece of burning roof collapses before it, an angered cry comes from Shinta's mouth as he tries to find away out.......but then he remembers one place where he could hide......the roof collapses inward and consumes what was left of the home......the fire burned into the late morning not a single part of the home stood anymore......
