Chapter 19

Gale POV

Nastu and I are being pulled off of some elder councilmen when we hear her voice.

"Stop you're hurting them!" Luna yells and all eyes are looking at her. She holds my gaze before reaching into her bag I manage to break free from the guards that were holding me. She pulls some weird crystal out of her bag and throws it to the ground I watch for a few seconds as smoke starts leaking from the creaks more like water until it starts floating upwards and wraps around her like a snake.

"This isn't where I want to be, so send me to a place that works for me." She says looking up again and just as I reach her the smoke envelopes her as she's gone. Something is slapped on my wrist and I'm pushed forward. I'm lead down a few flights of stairs and throw into a jail cell with Natsu right behind me. They lock the cell and we are left alone on the cold floor sitting there in silence.

"Ugh, why don't you just eat the bars so we can get out of here?" Natsu asks after a few minutes

"The same reason you can't use your fire to melt them. They are resistance to all magic types. Of course, you would know that if you actually paid attention to your daughter." I snap at him

"What are you talking about Layla and Luna have nothing to do with this." He says looking at me confused

"Layla not so much, but Luna created these bars and walls. She was the one who figured out how to mix magic resistance lacrima and spells with metals and concrete safely and to top it all off she designed each cell to resist different types of magic. Right now we are in a cell that was made to hold both caster magic and nature magic." I say leaning back against the wall. "And another thing those handcuffs are also made with the same technique so neither of us could use magic if we wanted to."

"When did she do all of this?" He asks as his face drops slowly

"About three years ago when you and the rest of your family plus mine went on that big mission something about dark guilds meeting and threatening the magic council it took a few months. I stay back to make sure Luna was okay. I was literally always at your house. you nearly beat me to a pulp when you got back and completely overlooked all the books and papers on her bed and ignored her when she tried showing you the letter she got and the certification of magic mechanics. She was even accepted into the magic council as a junior learner. Ever since than Luna has buried herself in her school work. The reason why she was here today is that she was getting more books. Something with advance law." I explain watching as his face goes completely depressed

"Why didn't she tell me?" He asks himself

"Because you never paid attention to what she could do without magic. You only ever focused on the fact that she didn't have any. She looks just like both you and Lucy no one can deny that she is your daughter. She is stubborn, carefree, and has a bit of a reckless streak like you, but she's also extremely kind, confident, and clever like Lucy. Yet she is her own person and you overlooked it for fifteen years. You saw her like she was a kitty when in reality she has the personality and heart like a dragon regardless of powers." I say

"I wish I could take it all back. She was and still is just my little girl you know? Having no powers just made her seem a lot more fragile." He says looking off

"You know in a no magic fight she can handle her own and trust me I don't want to admit it, but she's beaten me almost half the time we fight. Even when she was barely walking." I say

He looks up at me with this weird look a mixed between pround and devestated. I don't say anything else and Natsu looks like he's in deep thought which probably isn't that far down for him. After what seems like hours we are finally released with a fine and warning on our part if we ever try anything so stupid again. Something about them throwing us in jail for the rest of our lives. I rub my wrist as we walk back to the Fairy Tail guild hall. Natsu doesn't say anything but just looks at the ground. I can't tell he's still upset about the whole 'Luna is a lot stronger and smarter than you think' talk not about to relate with him I just walk next to him not offering anything other than some candy I stopped to buy. He takes a few pieces and slowly chews on them before his head shoots up. He sniffs the air and I look at him confused before I smell something and I turn my head in the same direction. Towards the guild hall.

"Is that... blood?" I ask already knowing the answer

"Yeah, but not just anyone's blood." His face pales "It's Luna's."

A wave of mixed emotions flood over me. Happiness and relief that we know where she's at, worried due to the scent of blood, and anger with her and whoever the hell hurt her. I take off before giving myself a second to think about it and Natsu is right behind me easily keep pace for being so old. After a few minutes and a couple of turns we are at the guild hall where everyone who was there is looking up and we do the same. The guy who took Luna is floating above the guild hall holding Luna. She is super pale and her eyes are closed. He shouts something but I can't hear him over my own heartbeat. He drops Luna and I see it. The knife lodged in her stomach and the blood pouring down her sides. I move forward towards her watching her move towards the earth faster. I dive and manage to grab her alone with someone else just before she hits the ground. Natsu holds her head in his lap his face blank as he gently strokes her face and hair. Wendy and Aura are on her in seconds the knife is removed and more blood starts pouring out. Natsu freaks out screaming and trying to get the two girls off of her and I have to pull him off and hold him back.
