No magic? No problem

Chapter 6

Luna POV

Seven freaking hours and we still haven't seen signs of anyone and I'm starting to get hungry. Lily flies in front of me and constantly sits on my head for a break. I don't blame her I've taken to climbing on Gale's back and taking some quick cat naps.
"Gale are we there yet?" I say for about the twentieth time
"does it look like it?" he grows to me and I turn around with my hands on my hips
"Excuse you, but I'm not the one who made lily and I walk for fucking seven hours cause you are too much of a pansy to get on an hour train ride!"
I turn back around and grumble as I keep walking into some unknown place with a talking cat and a whiny dragon. Lily flies over to me with a few apples and I give her a very thankful hug and take one eating it very loudly. Once I'm done with the I throw the core over my head and game growls and I smoke know I hit him. I do this a few more times until I'm content with my stomach. Out of ten, I hit gale eight and I feel so proud of myself.

Out of ten times I hit Gale eight and every time he growls at me but doesn't do a thing and I feel so proud until it gets dark and I start getting tired falling behind while Gale matches forward until both Lily and I get fed up and literally curl up on the ground and just stop moving altogether reacting in a groan from Gale when he realizes we stopped moving.

"Why did you two stop we are almost there!" He yells kneeling in front of us poking me

"Sorry, but I have this weird human function called exhaustion. I know it might sound strange but I do this weird thing call sleep" I reply pushing his hand away from me

"Well, at least help me set up a tent then you can sleep." He says

I groan and dig in his bag he placed in front of me looking for a flashlight when I find it I click it on and pull out a small fold up tent and unfold it laying it out and Gale gets the poles and gets the tent to stay up. I click the flashlight and crawl into the text and fall face first. Something warm is draped over my and something soft is shove under my head. Lily curls up in my arms while Gale lays next to me. His soft snores tell me he was as tired as I am and probably more. I quickly fall asleep.

Next morning

The next morning Gale is shaking me awake and trying to get my out of the text so he can fold everything back up and put it away so we can get back going. I crawl out holding a sleeping Lily watching as he folds everything and shoves it into his backpack before he holds out some more apples. This time after I eat them I throw them off to the side rather than throw them at Gale. We start walking in comfortable silence till we reach Mongolia then eventually the guild hall. Gale gets the job marked as completed while I make my way upstairs to talk to gramps about the weird stone in the mouse's back. I raise my hand to knock but the door opens just before my hand hits the wood. Gramps pulls me into the room and I kick the door shut. I sit down in a chair while gramps sits on the desk in front of me.

"So how did the mission go?" He asks

"Without a hitch. We got the pest to stop terrorizing the town people, but strangely the cause of what is was it this small green stone." I pull it out from my pocket and drop it in his hand. "It seemed to have a spell placed on it but the spell would have had to place deliberately and by someone stronger than a kid mage. Plus it was intentionally placed on a mouse. I don't think this was an accident, but that someone wanted to mess with the townspeople." I finish

Gale walks in as I finish and plops himself down on the chair next to me while lily hops in my lap.

"Oh yeah and this idiot made it a day longer because he's too much of wuss to tough out an hour train ride." I say hitching my thumb at him   

"You wanna fight with me about it?" He growls at me and I glare at him smacking him upside the head before turning back to gramps.

"So what do you think about the stone?" I ask 

"Well, it seems to me that it is nothing more than just an emerald now. Although you were right about a spell being placed on it. Nothing too strong but surely stronger than a child can do unless you are born with too much magic energy. So I'm thinking someone had an old grudge against the town or maybe the some of the townspeople and decided to do whatever they could find in a book the fastest. As for this" He holds the stone up to the light closing one eye as he looks at it. "It's nothing more than just a stone no use for it other than to make it into some jewelry or maybe to put it somewhere." He says shrugging as he drops it in my hand. I look at it before turning to Gale he also shrugs holding out his hand. I drop it in his hand. He shoves it into his pocket and we are dismissed by gramps only to be pulled back into his office.

"Oh, yeah I forgot this year's grand magic games is in six weeks and I want Gale on the team." He says before shoving us back out.

"Gale that's great." I throw my arms around the dragon slayer truly happy for him. "This means I can help you train!" I say

"Umm, yeah okay.." He says while I pull him out of the guild hall. 

This is gonna be great! I think as we go back into the sunlight.
