Alistiars POV
I was finally getting used to the nine dragons when my hopefully final dragon showed up. The house was big but it now had to house me, 10 dragons and two large dogs. Xygeos, the newest dragon, thankfully seemed to go back and forth between my house and the portal pond but the others showed no signs of leaving. I loved them all and wouldn't trade them for anything but they were a handful.
I started down the stairs, preparing myself for my usual food rounds. It had become a second nature at this point. I dumped some food outside in some bowls and walked around to drop some near the occupied holes. I rushed back inside, the chill of the winter slipping into my bones. The nine dragons and two dogs in the house surrounded me as I started filling up the insane amount of bowls. I stared at the last empty bowl before squatting down next to Fane, the small white dragon that had hatched last year. Soren raced around to push my hand off Fane and rubbed his orange scales along Fane's side.
"Soren you know I'm not gonna hurt Fane. I've known him longer than you have, I'm his mother." I said pursing my lips and poking Sorens nose. He gave me an annoying look before pushing Fanes head back towards his food, effectivly distracting him. I sighed before deciding to just ask him if he wouldn't let me ask Fane.
"Do you know if Xygeos is here today or will be here? I want to know if I should fill his bowl." I asked, pointing to the empty dish. Soren looked at the bowl before sniffing the air. After a few moments he gave me a small nod and went to finish off his food. I took his nod as a yes and filled the bowl before going to make my own breakfast. I had invested in a waffle maker and decided to try it out. After failing once and trying again, I made myself two decent waffles. I quickly ate before going up to my computer room.
The wall had a bunch of new pictures on it, making the once plain wall into a beautiful rainbow of scales. The dogs picture even fit in well. I sat down at the table I had bought a few months back just for drawing and pulled my sketchbook out of one of the drawers while grabbing a pencil. I pulled a picture off the wall and started sketching out Lotans body, deciding to do the baby dragons picture last.
A crash from downstairs had me stopping. I started to stand from my chair when Xygeos flew into the room. He grabbed onto my hoodie sleeve and started pulling.
"Woah woah hang on there buddy. You are in trouble. You are in a too big of form for the house and I know I heard a crash." I said unhappily, yanking my hoodie sleeve from his mouth. He stared me down before growling and I immedialty grew worried. None of my dragons had done that too me unless they were hurt and Xygeos clearly wasn't hurt. He stalked around me, forcing me to the door. As soon as I was in line with it, I ran. I could hear the giant black dragon behind me and picked up my pace. I made it to the stairs and tried to quickly but carefully descend down them. I slipped on the third last one and yelped as I hit the floor with my face. I felt blood pool around my nose but had no time to assess the damage. I pulled myself up and sprinted outside.
If he was going to attack me, it was going to be outside, where the other dragons wouldn't get involved. I weaved my way through the trees, scrapping my arms and face against low branches. My heart rate sped up to a mile a minute when I felt Xygeos' breath on my neck. I took a dive out the trees, into the lakes small clearing and was immediately tackled into the pond. I swam up, trying to get air to my lungs but the dragon easily overpowered me and continued to pull me under. As a last resort, I wrapped my arms around the dragons neck and held on with all my might. Suddenly I felt a change in the water. It was no longer freezing but a comfortable warm temperature. I opened my eyes, straining against the water flowing into them and almost gasped when I realized we were now going upwards, towards a bright light.
I shut my eyes as we breached the surface of the lake and took a huge gasp, sucking as much air as I could into my lungs. Xygeos helped me drag myself out of the water, allowing me to lay on the ground and have a coughing fit. I took one more deep breath before opening my eyes before closing them from the extreme light blaring down on me. I sat up and slowly took in my surroundings. The lake looked the same as mine back at home but there was no forest surrounding it and definitely no house.
I stood on shaky legs and looked around. To my left stood a sheepish looking black dragon, behind him a small forest and on my left was tall grassy plains. There was a roar from above me and I quickly ducked down. Looking up, I spotted at least six dragons in all their glory. I had never seen a full size dragon before, all of mine stayed small for me.
"Xygeos where are we?" I asked frantically. I reached for the dragon but he backed away, almost as if trying to lead me somewhere. "I want to go back home." I said angrily before jumping into the water. I swam down as fast as I could, holding in my breath but hit the bottom of the pond. I patted the ground in panic. There had to be a hole or something. I need to go home. How did we get through?
Suddenly, it dawned on me and I swam back up. I crawled from the water, standing up and trying to wring out my clothes. "I have to have a dragon take me back, right?" I asked, glaring at the dragon now sitting up in front of me. He only nodded his head. I sighed and rubbed my eyes and flipped my hair from my face. I looked around before looking back at him.
"Fine. Show me why I'm here." I growled out. Xygeos beckoned me over with his tail and I quickly got on his back. He grew some but instead of flying, he started a slow walk towards the forest. I leaned down on his back, glaring at the back of his head. This was going to be terrible.
