Alistair's POV
The elf guards drug me through multiple hallways, tugging harshly at the chains around my wrists. I could feel the blood running down my arms at this point.
We stopped in front of a metal door, pulling it open slowly. Behind the door, was a set of stone stares; dimly lit by a few torches. We walked quickly down the steps before continuing to walk into a hallway. The walls were lined with cells, some empty, some not. Some cells contained people bleeding out on the ground.
We paused in front of an empty cell. The door was slid open and I was thrown inside. The door was shut and the guards had left. I scooted to the back of the cell, covering my ears. I couldn't stand the sounds of painful groans and sad sobs coming from the cells surrounding me.
Footsteps began to swiftly approach and my heart rate spiked. Another elf stopped in front of my cell but this one didn't look like all the others. This one had a small set of muscle on his body, making him look impossibly more scary. He shoved a key into my cell door and yanked open the door before stepping inside and locking it behind himself.
The mans cold eyes pinned me to my spot. I only started to struggle when he picked me up by the back of my shirt. I yelled out in pain as he slammed me against the wall. I had just opened my eyes when his fist connect with my face. He threw me to the ground and I had no time to pull up my arms to protect myself before he began beating me with an onslaught of punches. The punches switched to kicks. Each kick landing on a new place on my already aching and bruised body.
My screams died down into whimpers as his punches and kicks slowly came to a halt. His sadistic laugh filled my ears, engraving the sound in my head. The man roughly grabbed my chin and forced me to look at him. He smiled an evil toothy grin before landing one last punch to my face, a sickening crack resonated through the cell.
He dropped my head to the ground and stepped over me, exiting the cell and leaving me to cry along with the other sad souls stuck in cells like mine.
I propped myself up on shaky elbows and scooted back against the wall again. I let the tears fall freely as I curled in on myself. A cold nose touched mine and I gasped when I saw Fane staring straight at me.
"Oh my gosh, are you guys okay?" I whispered, wincing when I felt my voice crack painfully. Fane nodded his head as the other two crawled out of my front pocket. I must have had my arms in the right spot and taken the blows for them.
Varon slid over my arm and around the metal cuff locking my hands together. He hooked one of his long dragon nails inside and began to wiggle it around. Soren started to do the same on the other side. It took a couple of tense minutes but the locks finally clicked and dropped from around my raw wrists.
I pushed myself off the ground, leaning against the cold wall for support. I made my way to the door and peeked through the bars. The cell directly in front of me was empty and the one next to that held what looked to be an unconscious female elf. On the other side of the empty cell was a corner that led to a hallway. Footsteps started coming this way again and I stepped back, dropping to the floor again. The steps disappeared down the hall, not even taking notice to my curled up form.
I pushed myself up and pointed to the lock, looking over at Soren. He and Varon began to quickly work on unlocking it. They got this lock open faster and I slowly pushed on the cell door. It creaked a few times but I was able to slip through the small gap.
I looked both way, trying to figure out whether or not I should go back to the way I got here or take my chances with the unfamiliar hallway. The choice was decided for me when footsteps came from the hallway. I dashed past the cells, thanking the heavens that none of the other prisoners said anything. I took the stone steps two at a time when I got to them, not waiting to hear the footsteps again.
I pressed my ear against the metal door at the top, hoping to hear something on the other side but all I succeeded in doing was making the right side of my head cold. I pushed open the door and peeked around the side, only seeing an empty hallway. I shut the door behind the dragons as the flew through to the other side.
I began to run back the way I remembered to the throne room but skidded to a stop when I rounded a corner. I back tracked quickly when I saw two elves speed walking my way. I turned and quickly entered a room, shutting the wood door just as the two passed. I swiveled around on my heels and realized I was surrounded by tell bookshelves. The room was lit by a single torch, causing mincing shadows to form on the walls.
I weaved in between the shelves, looking for another door. I didn't care if it lead into another unknown hallway, I just wanted out of this creepy room. Finally, another door showed itself. I jiggled the handle of door, realizing it was locked. I looked at the dragons and they quickly got to work on unlocking the door.
In no time, we were walking through the door. I shut the door behind me and gasped when I realized I was in a bedroom. It was amazing. The bed was huge. Large marble pillars lined the walls where artistic masterpieces weren't hanging. I shook my head, there was no time to admire this place.
I glanced around the room, finding three other doors. I ran to the closest one, opening it to reveal a large closet area. The door next to it led to a stunning bathroom, meaning the remaining door would lead to hopefully another hallway. I approached the door but stopped when the handle began to turn. I turned around and scanned the room for a place to hide but it was too late. The door opened behind me opened while I turned around, holding my breath.
