Alistair's POVI hopped off of Varon as soon as his feet touched the ground in front of Selah’s house. I shoved the door open with my shoulder, yelling for help.
“What’s going on?” Selah asked urgently as she exited her lab. She gasped when she saw blood coating my arms and the unconscious Soren in my arms. Ryuu rushed out of the kitchen at the sound of the commotion.
“What happened?” Ryuu yelled in question. I just shook my head, setting Soren down on the couch. Selah grabbed some supplies and began checking the extent of his wounds. Ryuu grabbed my shoulders and forced me to look away from the bloody scene.
“What happened?” Ryuu asked seriously, staring me down.
“The King...h-he attacked me and then stabbed him.” I said, taking in a shaky breath.
“The King? How did you even see him? He never leaves the Kingdom.” Ryuu said in disbelief.
“I killed him.” I whispered, sliding to the floor. I curled in on myself and repeated the words.
“What?” Selah and Ryuu asked in unison.
“I killed the king.” I confessed, looking up at them with fearful eyes.
“You’re lying.” Ryuu said, stepping away from me. I only shook my head as an answer.
“You have to be lying.” Ryuu repeated, wringing his hands together.
“Thats kind of a good thing, isn’t it?” Selah commented, continuing to stitch up Soren.
“Of course it’s not. You can’t just kill him!” Ryuu yelled, shocked.
“Since when did you care about him? Ryuu he killed your family.” Selah reasoned.
“We still share the same blood. Elves look out for each other, thats how its supposed to be!” Ryuu said beginning to panic.
“Ryuu they never even accepted you as an elf.” I said, trying to get him to calm down. Ryuu turned to me, looking ready to yell but stopped when there was a loud knock at the door. Selahs eyes flicked over to meet mine.
“This is the head guard of Dracdalis! We are here to speak with the man who killed the king.” A male voice said. We stayed silent. I couldn’t help but jump when there was another knock. We sat in silence, forcing back tears and panicked breath. Another knock sounded, more forcefully and harsh this time. Suddenly, the doors handle jiggled and within moments the entire door was thrown back against the wall. Standing outside, dressed in a mix of leather and iron armor was four elves. They barged inside and fell to their knees, shocking us even more. They stood again after a few seconds of complete and utter silence. You could hear a pin drop.
“Good Evening, which one of you killed the king?” The elf standing closest questioned, looking between all three of us. I stood on shaky legs in front of the much taller man.
“It is good to meet you King.” The elves said together, giving me another small bow.
“What?” I asked dumbfounded.
“You are the new king?” The male elf said, almost as a question.
“How?”
“You keep what you kill. The throne, the kingdom, this entire land is yours.” The elf said, staring me dead in the eyes. A whimper of pain came from inside and Selah quickly refocused her attention on Soren.
“Alistair I need your help.” Selah called. I looked the elf guards up and down before turning to run over to the couch. Out of the corner of my eye, I watched Ryuu sit down on the floor.
“Is there anything we can do to help King Alistair?” The main elf guard wondered, peeking around to look at the small dragon.
“Please don’t call me that.” I pleaded.
“Get some water from that room over there.” Selah commanded, pointing at the kitchen door.
“Do what she says.” I ordered, speaking up when they didn’t move. The elves marched inside and followed our orders.
After what seemed like years, Soren was all stitched up and Selah’s couch was completely ruined. Selah sat back and wiped the sweat off her forehead, taking a deep breath. Ryuu hadn't moved an inch throughout the entire ordeal.
“King Alistair, we need you to come back to the castle with us. You need to be ready for the ceremony.” One of the elves piped up.
“Ceremony?” I questioned.
“It will make you the official King of Dracdalis.” The guard stated simply.
“Dracdalis is...this place?” I questioned, waving my hands in different directions.
“Yes.” I nodded my head and began gathering up my things.
“So you’re just going to go with them?” Selah asked, sneaking a glance at the elves waiting for me.
“I guess. I don’t think they are going to hurt me. They would have already done it.” I said, stuffing random clothes into a bag.
“Are my friends allowed to come with me?” I asked, throwing a bag over my shoulder.
“If that is what you wish, of course. They are allowed.”
“I think i’ll stay here and come tomorrow for the ceremony, if that's okay?” Selah said, directing the question at me. I nodded my head and looked over at Ryuu who still had not moved. Selah opened her arms and gave me a big hug.
“Be careful.” She whispered before letting me go. I smiled and followed the elves out of the house after one more look at Soren sleeping on the couch.
Outside of the house stood five large horses, waiting for their masters orders. The horses towered over me. One of the guards guided me over to a comeplelty white horse. He held it still as I struggled to climbed onto the giants back. Once I was settled in, the others skillfully mounted their horses and began the journey back to the castle.
The trip there was much shorter than my first trip and I'm sure the horses weren't even going at their fastest pace. The large wall began growing from over the horizon.
My mind was on overdrive at this point. I had no idea how this was going to work. I didn't want to be king. I didn't want this but there was nothing I could say to stop the elves at this point. I took a deep breath as we rode through the gates, hoping to calm my nerves on being in this dreaded place again.
