Alistairs POV
Xygeos and I were still walking through the dumb woods. This was cool and all but I just wanted to go back home. Just as I was about to force the black dragon to take me back, we exited the small forest. Standing in front of us was a small house. I glanced over at Xygeos in confusion.
"You wanted me to come here?" I asked, raising a brow. Xygeos nodded and pushed me forward with his head. I stumbled to catch my balance before creeping over to the houses front door. I took a few deep breaths so calm myself. I had no idea who lived here. I had no clue what creatures were in this dimension.
I stopped in front of the door and glared down at Xygeos once again. "I'm going to kill you if I die." I said before knocking my knuckles against the wood door a few times. I backed away from the door, stopping once I was behind Xygeos. We waited moments before Xygeos surged forward. Before I could stop him, he had hit the door handle and let himself in. Xygeos slid through the crack in the door, disappearing from my sight. I jumped when a female voice squealed from inside.
"Richard! It's been too long!" The girl yelled cheerfully. I inhaled before shuffling inside, following the sound of the girls voice. I stopped in front of the door where the small hums resonated from.
"Hello?" I inwardly cringed when my voice cracked. I gasped and jumped backwards when a head popped into my line of sight.
"Oh hello! Who are you?" She asked, looking me up and down.
"I'm um Alistiar. Xygeos brought me here." I said, trying to be confident in my words.
"Who?" She questioned, pushing up her circular glasses.
"Xygeos." I said, pointing at the black dragon standing a few inches behind her. She turned her head quickly, her red hair whipping around her face as she turned back to me.
"You mean Richard?" She said, petting Xygeos' head.
"What kind of name is Richard?" I asked, furrowing my brows.
"What kind of name is Xygeos?" She snapped back. I held my hands up in defense. She turned and walked back into the room she was previously in. I slowly followed her in, immediately noticing the lizard now sitting on her shoulder. It was something we had back on Earth.
"What's your name?" I asked, curiously.
"Selah." She said, smiling over at me before going back to work on something. My mind reeled for a second before I made the connection.
"Selah as in Selah Morris? You dissapeared." I gasped out.
"Yes." Selah said, narrowing her eyes in my direction. "How do you know that? I have never even told an elf my name, let alone anything about my existance on Earth."
"An elf?" I asked confusion seeping into my voice.
"That is what you are, yes." She said, standing from her seat.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I said, stepping back. Selah took a step forward. I swatted her hands away but she was able to pushed a few strands of my blonde hair away from face.
"Oh." Selah said, dropping her hand. I shook my hair back out before glaring at her.
"What's going on?" I asked seriously. I wanted answers and explanations. Selah gave me a slight smile before plopping back down in her chair. I leaned back against the wall and waited.
"So I guess I should start from the beginning." Selah started, gently picking up her lizard and setting it down on her lap. "I moved into the house I'm guessing you live in now and soon after found an amulet."
"This one?" I butted in, pulling the amulet out from under my slowly drying hoodie.
"Yes." She said. "Once I found the amulet, dragons started appearing. They never stayed and few would allow me near them but I was fassinated." Selah said, an excited gleam in her blue eyes. I nodded, signaling her to continue. "I met Richard and he led me to the pond. He pulled me down one day and showed me this amazing world. He allowed me to go back home and soon enough I was building my home here. The building you're standing in now." Selah said, reminiscing, tapping her foot against the floor.
"The last thing I brought through was Frederick here. I threw the amulet back into the pond and I guess you found it." She said, running a finger down the small lizards back.
"As nice of story as that was, that doesn't explain the elf thing." I sighed out, not understanding why she'd want to live here.
"Of course! From what I can tell this dimensions main creatures are dragons and elves. You kinda look like one, only shorter." Selah explained.
"Why do dragons keep coming through the portal injured if there are elves here who could help them?" I questioned.
"I honestly have no idea. Sometimes I see elves fighting with dragons but I don't usually stick around. I do come back afterwards though, they make it much easier to get specimens for me to study!" Selah said, excited.
"Specimens?" I asked, the thought of war making me uneasy.
"Yes! Dragons are fascinating! Their genetic structure is so unique and their abilities are magnificent!" Selah explained in fervor, her eyes lighting up as she looked around the room. I followed her eyes and mine widened at the different parts lying on the white tables. Dragon scales and body parts were littered across them. Bloody steel tools occupied the space next to the parts in haphazard messy piles and next to those sat papers filled with writing.
"That's terrible." I said in disgust.
"No! It's amazing looking at the structure of dragons! I came here to research them and they have not disappointed!" Selah said jumping up from her chair after setting Frederick on her shoulder. "Let me show you some of my work!" She said, rushing over to a random pile of papers and digging through them.
"I think I'm good." I said, rubbing my temple.
"You'll understand if I show you!" Selah said, ignoring my previous statement completely. I groaned as she stuck a paper covered in hard to read writing in my face. This day just kept getting worse.
