~Katie~

The sun was shining through my stainless window, the light summer breeze ruffling my see-through curtains. I opened one blue eye, then the other happily.

First day of summer vacation, baby.

I yawned before sitting up in my bed, gazing around my room, still half asleep. My eyes wandered to my light blue painted walls, white fluffy carpet, neat rosewood wardrobe and furniture. I settled my gaze outside my huge window, to the white polished balcony.

"I cannot wait to go surfing in that surf today" I sighed to myself, grinning, seeing the green blue waves lapping gently onto the sandy shore. Already, I could see cars starting to park in the soon to be crowded as hell car park, little kids running out of cars, parents running after them with baskets of food in one hand and sunscreen in their other. Safety first

"Well someone's excited to get into the waves again" Adam laughed from my doorway, eyes dancing with amusement.

"No how did you know?" I mock gasped, widening my eyes at him.

"Hasn't anyone told you? I'm Dumbledore...in a different form" He whispered, running to my side and whispering it into my ear dramatically.

"Gosh, you are such an idiot" I laughed, throwing one of my midnight blue pillows in his laughing face.

"Gee, thanks Kat. Anyway, better get ready or I won't take you in my stunning silver baby" He chuckled, getting off my bed and jogging of the door.

"Only idiots call their car a stunning silver baby" I mimicked, crossing my eyes after his retreating back.

"HEY, I HEARD THAT" I heard him yell from downstairs. I laughed slightly to myself before rolling out of bed...and falling onto the floor. I lay on the white carpeted floor for a while, scrunching my lightly freckled nose at the dust. Note to self: Vacuum the floor, it's dusty.

"Get your lazy ass off the floor, Kat. Mum's making me do chores again. Chores, of all things" Nicole grumbled from outside my room.

"Wow, I wonder why, Nix. I mean, it's not like you did anything wrong recently" I snorted, finally getting off the floor and scanning my eyes in my wardrobe to find something to wear.

"All I did was wag school for the last two weeks...and yet mum had to go berserk" Nicole shook her head, making her earring jiggle and sparkle in the sunlight.

"That's not all...what about Jason's party?" I shot at her, grabbing my essentials from my bedside table.

"That's honestly not my problem. Jason said that his parents weren't going to back till later. How is 2:00am late?" She rolled her eyes, ruffling her short black hair, making it even messier then usual.

"Yeah...2:00am on a Monday isn't late at all" I rose at eyebrow at her before entering my bathroom, dumping my stuff on the white sink. I turned on the shower, full blast, so I wouldn't need to Nicole's rants about her not being rebellious in the slightest...yeah, sure. Nicole? Not rebellious? Those two words definitely do not go together.

I silently hummed to myself as I rearranged my shells on my counter, waiting for my shower to warm up. A shell slipped out of my grip and I quickly shot my hand at it and sighed with relief as I caught it. It was inches away from breaking the photo frame I propped up next to the mirror. The photo with my family...

Well. When we were a happy family. When we didn't have to fake laughs and smiles when we caught up with each other, which, was a rare occasion.

"HURRY UP" Mum yelled up from downstairs "THE TOAST IS GETTING COLD"

"BUT I ONLY JUST GOT IN" I yelled back, smacking my forehead with a soapy hand.

"YOU'LL GET WET SURFING ANYWAY' She yelled louder, a note of irritation in her voice. I grumbled to myself as I quickly showered off the soap studs, dried myself with a fluffy white towel and got changed into my green blue swimmers, shoving my spring wet suit into my bag. I stared at my reflection for a second, some blue streaks falling in my face. I quickly tied it back into a messy high ponytail, glancing at the untouched make-up kit for a second before shaking my head and left the bathroom, ponytail swinging.

"Morning" I said cheerily as I entered the brightly lit kitchen, the windows allowing maximum summer sunshine to flow around the room.

"Stop being so cheery at 7:30am on a Saturday morning. I should be sleeping but no apparently I'm under arrest by my so-called mother. More like the devil" Nicole sneered, loading the dishwasher carelessly. I winced as a plate crashed onto the floor, but she just swiftly picked it up and dumped it into the dishwasher with a thud.

"Excuse me, young lady, you do not talk to your mother like that" Mum snapped, narrowed her eyes at her eldest daughter, slowly putting her coffee mug down on the table.

"I can talk however I want to, you can't control me," Nicole hissed, turning around to face mum on her heels.

"Do not talk to me that way," Mum repeated calmly, though you could clearly see the anger sparking in her eyes and the tone of irritation in her voice.

Let's go...now. Adam mouthed at me, jerking his head to the front door. He grabbed his car keys, gave mum a quick peck on the cheek and ran out of the door as if there was no tomorrow.

"Do not talk to me that way. Oh please, it's a free country" Nicole sighed, scrunching up her face. Mum's face became a lovely shade of red as she drew up her full height. And that's my cue to leave. I offered a little timid wave to the both of them...which went ignored. Grabbing my sunnies and bag, I also, ran out of the house, not wanting to hear the great world war III yelling go on.

"They about to yell?" Adam asked as I connected my aqua and white swirled surfboard on the roof rack.

"More like blow up" I sighed, slipping in the car and moodily staring at the window. It had been a great morning...until Nicole and mum started fighting, yet again. As per usual.

"One day, Nicole will come to her senses and stop trying to raise a flaming war," Adam said, ruffling up my hair like I was a little girl.

"Don't touch the hair" I mock scowled, attempting to fix my hair but giving up because heck, it took too much effort.

"Thanks for the ride, and your hair looks great" I laughed, referring to his own now messed hair, before shaking out my hair tie and letting my straight hair fall in front of my face.

"Yours doesn't look too bad either. Love you!" He yelled, still laughing as he drove away in his silver stunning baby.

Dumping my bag on the sand, I hurriedly put on my black wetsuit then quickly tying up the least before running into the water, happy to feel so damn free. I whooped to myself as a new wave came crashing my way, and I launched myself into the standing position after paddling hard into it. No matter how rough things got at home, at least the surf was somewhere I could have my peace and live life to the fullest.
