"I can't believe the summer's nearly over" I sighed, flipping my tied ponytail over my shoulder dramatically, tipping my head to the sun, as if trying to soak up the last of the summer warmth.
"Same, I mean it's been the best summer I've ever had. The memories" Clarence chuckled, her brown eyes taking in a vacant faraway look.
"Agreed, like when we first met? I still think that cliff is way dangerous..." I trailed off, laughing as Clarence shoved me playfully onto the sand.
"Or when we performed our first gig, that was pretty fun" She grinned, eyes shining.
"Or when Katie here punched Jason, now that's something I'm not about to forget anytime soon" A familiar voice laughed, hugging me from behind. I resisted the urge to turn around and simply giggled instead, leaning my head against Dylan's chest.
"I sure wish I was there, I wanted to see his face" Clarence sighed, pretending to pout.
"Yeah, well, I'm the one whose stuck with him throughout the rest of the school year" I grimaced, shaking my head slightly "But if you want, I could take a photo of him with another punch I could throw at him" I offered.
"It's good, no need for the picture. I could just see it in person instead" She smiled mysteriously. I frowned slightly, sitting up.
"What do you mean?"
"We got offered a music scholarship, genius!" She yelled, throwing her arms up in the in excitement.
I blinked.
"You...aren't kidding...right?" I double-checked, my heart speeding up again. Here I was, thinking I would be missing Dylan...I mean, Clarence, while I was at school and now I wouldn't have to worry about it.
"Oh hell no" She grinned, cheering with the other guys.
A grin slowly spread across my face as I started yelling and jumping up and down out of sheer excitement.
Maybe, just maybe, our summer adventures weren't over just quite yet.

I pulled at the bottom of my dark blue and white checked skirt, conscious of the length. Stupid skirt was at least 5 centimetres above my knee; Mr Flen was going to have a heart attack. Mr Flen, if you haven't guessed, was my principal, though I prefer to call him "The Flea". His black unkempt hair was always greasy, and he constantly twitched with every word. Not to mention appeared out of nowhere to be kind enough to hand you a detention slip.Such a sweet old man.
"Kat, you nearly ready?" Adam yelled, jiggling his car keys in his hand. Nicole graduated last year, so now Adam drives his girlfriend, Elle, and me to school. I guess it's an okay ride, if you ignore the usual lovey glances and mushy talk.
"Coming!" I yelled back, checking in the mirror again, straightening my crisp white short-sleeved shirt and pulling up the white socks a little higher, brushing off non-existent dust off my polished shoes. I raced down the stairs, pecking my mum on the cheek before grabbing my shoulder bag and hopping in the car, ready for the half an hour trip to school.
"Someone takes their time getting ready" Adam teased, tugging on my two plaits teasingly.
"Are we talking about you?" I asked innocently, batting my eyelashes at him.
"I think we are" Elle grinned, appearing from around the corner and kissing Adam on the lips quickly before hopping in the seat with him.
"Guys, seriously, cut out the PDA in front of me" I grimaced, pulling a face.
"Sorry, baby sister, she's just so irresistible" He grinned, winking at her.
"Back to you, handsome" Charlotte winked back at him as he started up the car. I made gagging noises and rolled down the window, ready for the new school year to begin.

"I feel so out of place" Clarence whined, chewing on her bottom lip. I rolled my eyes, shutting my locker door and balancing out my books in my arms."You'll fit right in, it's a good school" I assured her, glancing over at her timetable.
Homeroom
Maths
English
Double Sport
Science
Music
"And, we're totally twinning our timetable" I added.
"It's also a really cliché school" She mumbled, falling into step beside me as we made our way through the chaotic hallway, students catching up with friends, white lockers banging, blue walls already plastered with posters about joining new clubs.
"How so?" I questioned.
"For one, I've already noticed the group of jocks and their cheerleaders...I'm guessing they're the popular kids here" She said, raising an eyebrow at me.
"I guess" I admitted, swiftly picking up a loose bit of paper someone had dropped and flashing them a friendly smile before returning it to them.
"I've noticed the serious geeks"
"Can't argue with you there"
"And...the bad boys" She whispered dramatically. I rolled my eyes, of course.
"The one's who look rebellious and wear rather dark clothes yet manage to look utterly hot at the same time?"
"Yep" She breathed, staring at something...or someone to the right of me.
"Let me guess, a bad boy" I sighed, turning to my right. And there he stood, with his dark brooding figure, brown quiffed hair and mysterious eyes, lying back against the locker.
"Who is he?'" She sighed dreamily, flicking her long brown hair from her face.
"Oh, you do not want to know" I hurriedly said, pushing her forward slightly, avoiding eye contact with him.
"Why not? I definitely want to know who this amazing god-like creature is," She said, glancing behind her one more time before looking back at the front, cheeks tinted pink.
I glanced her way and sighed when I saw her determined face. Of course she wasn't going to let this go, I mean, this is Clarence we're talking about.
"Every guy wants to be him, every girl worships the ground he walks on," I explained, not wanting to really continue, "yes, and he's the typical bad boy. Detentions, rebellious ways, skipping class"
"Okay, and why are you so...weird about him?" She pushed on, eyes curious.
"Because," I blew a strand of blonde hair from my face "he's Finn Hue. Jason's one and only best friend and partner in crime. You mess with Jason; you've messed with Finn. And that's' something no one wants to do. But you know the worst bit? We already have. And I bet you my life that he won't stop messing with us until he gets his revenge"
DA DAN DAAAAAAN.
Sorry, that was meant to be dramatic music.
