I jogged down to the beach after being dropped off from Adams stunning silver baby. Oh wow look at that, the nickname stuck. Thanks to my brother. My brother is so insanely weird that I still can't believe he has a normal girlfriend; Elle Gardner with her beautiful chestnut ringlet hair, laughing green eyes and normal family compared to Adam Jackson who has blonde hair and normal blue eyes, and a crazy family to add.
Anyway, enough thinking about my brother's love life. I shook my head slightly, as my hair crazily flew in different directions, and the light summer breeze softly whistled in my ears. I slowed down when I saw a shape shift in the grass nearby. I narrowed my eyes slightly to get a better look. No, it wasn't a shape. It was a person. More specifically, Clarence.
"Hey, Clarence?" I said softly, putting down my surfboard nearby and sitting down on it. When I got no response, I gently shook her shoulder, earning a yawn.
"Huh? Katie?" She yawned, sitting up and stretching in her sleeping bag. Close-up, her eyes looked a little tired and pink, as if she'd recently been crying.
Well, that makes the two of us.
"Mhm. What are you doing out here?" I asked, tilting my head slightly, confused to say the least. I mean:
1. She wasn't with the other boys, and in the whole two days I've known her she's been with them at her side.
2. She was sleeping in a sleeping bag on grass, outside. I honestly doubt this is her usual routine.
"Hm? Wait, give me a moment to wake up" She closed her eyes for a brief second, puffed out her cheeks, de-puffed them and opened her eyes, looking a little more awake now. "Sorry, I wasn't really awake...what did you ask before?"
I repeated my question and watched her reaction. Her eyes were unusually bright, and she looked a little...upset? She paused for a while before answering.
"It was Tristam who told you about Jason, wasn't it?" She said softly, lightly rubbing her hands on the fresh mint coloured grass. I chewed my bottom lip slightly.
"Yeah...but look, I've been thinking, I don't really know Tristam or Jason that well. I should really listen to both sides of their stories before I jump to conclusions. Sorry for jumping out at you about Jason" I said sheepishly, smiling slightly.
"Hey, it's okay. It's just...Jason's like. My first real crush, you know? I've never really felt this way about a guy before. He's cute, funny and he kind of just gets me." She smiled back, her eyes already starting to shine with talking about Jason.
"I could lie and say I understand all about this boy-girl relationship thing...or I could tell the truth and say I kind of have no idea what you're talking about" I admitted, laughing softly to myself.
'Wait, you've never like liked anyone before?' She asked, sounding surprised.
"Nope. No boys have really caught my eyes" I grinned, ignoring the feeling that I was slightly lying. There was this one guy...
"I get this feeling that I don't believe you. You're a horrible actor," She laughed, and I lightly smacked her shoulder with a sandy hand.
"Well it isn't really my dream job to become an actress and star in all the Hollywood films" I joked, getting up and brushing off some sand from my sandy wetsuit.
"Still, we all need a little acting skills to help us lie to get out of mischievous trouble...or dirty little secrets."

"...And she totally spazzed. Hell, she actually thought it was a shark" I laughed, re-telling Adam my little prank on Clarence that I had played on her, after I convinced her to get in the ocean with me.
"Ha, nice one, sis. Didn't know you had it in you" He chuckled, ruffling my hair.
"Hey, I've pranked people before" I protested, crossing my arms and pretending to look offended.
"Hm? Care to give me an example?" He grinned, turning the car into our street. Behold: Vanxer street, where neighbours don't get along at all. But still a great neighbour hood for Halloween. Never run out of candy...
"Well. The time I put red food colouring in your toothpaste. You thought your teeth were actually bleeding" I smirked, remembering his girly scream, as we got ready for school.
"I choose not to comment on that" He shook his head, looking a touch embarrassed. I could've teased him further, when I noticed a slight change as we parked outside our house.
"Hey, where's the old Toyota?" I asked, getting out of the car and checking the garage. Car-less.
"I don't know..." I unlocked the house, to find it unusually quiet.
"Mum? Nicole?" Adam's voice echoed slightly in the silent house.
"What if a kidnapper kidnapped them and took them away to I don't know...Texas?" I worried, scanning the kitchen and living room for any clues where they were.
"Dude, you watch way too many horror chick flicks. My best guess is that they're..." the door banged slightly and laughter entered the hallway. "Home"
"Mum? Nicole?" I blinked, bewildered at the change of my family. The two enemies since dad's accident were holding two cones of ice cream, and smiling.
"Hey Kat, how was your day?" Nicole chirped, finishing off her ice cream and grinning at me.
"Adam, how's Elle going?" Mum asked, a smile playing on her cheerful face.
"She's going great...mum, you never ask about Elle. I didn't even realise you knew I had a girlfriend" Adam stated, sounding almost as bewildered as I felt.
"Of course I knew you had a girlfriend, what kind of mum do you think I am." She asked, laughing slightly.
"And Nicole...my day was normal. Until now" I honestly said, a happy giggle escaping through my mouth. "But, I think I rather prefer this change" Mum and Nicole simply just exchanged a secret knowing smile at each other, oh look at that, miracles do happen.
