Light, swallowed up by an eternal life of darkness,
Splitting you up and making you feel torn
Between two different directions.
To keep going or to give up and mourn.

But you choose to keep going
Because you can't just stare at the wall.
The darkness is blinding,
But you need to prove that you can stand up tall.

You miss the snow in the winter,
The flowers that bloom in the spring,
Wearing your sunglasses because of the sun,
And in autumn, hearing the small birds sing.

The tiny things that spell out 'life'
Be grateful for them while they last
Because then you remember to look to the future -
It does not do to dwell on the past.
