We had just finished binding Kili's leg. I was sitting and talking to him. Soon I saw a figure behind us.......

"Um....boys, we have company," I whispered. They all looked towards the rock where the stranger stood. He stood there with an armed bow looking right at Ori. Dwalin jumped in front of him with a long stick glaring at the cloaked figure. In an instant the cloaked figure had shot and arrow through the stick almost hitting Dwalin and had knocked a rock out of Kili's hand. As he notched another arrow to his bow he spoke.

"Do it again. And you're dead." he said

"Excuse me, but you're from lake town if I'm not mistaken," Balin said walking slightly towards the man, "That barge over there, it wouldn't be available for hire by any chance" The man lowered his weapon as he looked at us in confusion. I think we had just found our miracle. Hopefully...........

Whilst Balin talked to the mystery man about getting across the lake, I was tending to Kili. Well trying to...

"I told you I'm fine," He said taking my hands in his

"Kili, please......just let me help you....." I said

"(Y/N), I'm completely fine. Don't worry about me," he said

"Kili......." I said putting on hand on his cheek

"Fine....." he said. Kneeling down, I undid the small cloth binding and wrapped a new piece that was a little more cleaner around the wound so it wouldn't get infected. I tightened it enough so it wouldn't come loose during the rest of our journey. Once it was done I looked up at him.

"So, will I live," he asked jokingly, I stood up smiling.

"I think the odds are in your favour," I said, folding my arms, he laughed at my little joking come-back. He looked like he was about to say something else but our attention was quickly drawn to the conversation between Balin and the Mystery Man

"I wager there are ways to enter that town unseen!" Balin said

"Aye, but for that, you would need a smuggler," the man said

"For which we will pay, double" Balin said, the man looked at us in confusion before standing up straight looking at as. I smiled, I think we just found ourselves a smuggler.

We were now on the boat with barrel after barrel waiting to get to Lake town.

"Watch out!" Bofur yelled as we saw dozens of rocks in front of us, the mystery man- who me and Bilbo found out was named Bard- carefully guided us through what looked to be runes.

"What are you trying to do? Drown us?!" Thorin confronted him

"I was born and breed on these waters master dwarf, if I wanted to drown you....i would not do it here," he said, Thorin scowled at Bard and walked over to Dwalin

"Oh I've had enough of this nifty lake man. I say we throw him over the side and be done with him

"Oh, bard his name's Bard!" Bilbo said angrily

"How do you know?" Bofur asked

"Um.... I asked him"

"I don't care what he's called, I don't like him" Dwalin groaned

"We don't need to like him, we simply have to pay him," Balin said, "Come on lads turn out you pockets," We all put coins on the little make shift table Balin had. I walked over to Bilbo

"You're not mad about.....me getting adopted.....are you?" I said to him, "I did tell them I already had a father in the shire but the king insisted and-" I got cut off

"I'm not mad about it, just a little annoyed. About things," he said, I raised an eyebrow, "Don't worry, you could never make me mad....." he trailed off as I heard Balin speak

"There's one problem....." he said, "Were ten coins short,"

"Gloin. Come on, give us what you have," Thorin said

"Don't look to me," He said, I looked to the front of the boat and tapped Kili on the shoulder he looked the way I was looking as well, grinning like a little girl. Soon the company was all standing and staring at the sight in front of us. Gloin's rambling soon stopped and he shoved the bag of money to Balin. "Take it, take all of it," In a matter of seconds Bard came over to us.

"The money quick," He said reaching out his hand , "Give it to me,"

"We will pay you when we get our provisions, but not before," Thorin said

"If you value your freedom, you will do as I say," Bard said, he then looked up slightly, "There are guards ahead"
