Only you are enough

You don't need to dress a specific way, if you don't want to. You don't need to wear the makeup. You don't need to act like you are an idiot. You can show how smart you are. You can be sexy without showing your body to everyone. You can show everyone how much you love musicals. You can show them that you are a true geek. You can show them you actually do like school. You don't have to pretend like you are sexually adept at everything. You can be innocent. You can be beautiful while still being a little bigger than the models in the magazines. You are so much more than what everyone thinks of you. You have been loved forever. You have been enough from the beginning. You don't need that Good Morning text. You got up. You don't need that Goodnight kiss. You are healthy. You don't need to pick up that blade. Your scars are your trophies that you have lasted this long through all the shit you have been through. You have never needed someone's validation. You are already SO beautiful yourself.

I'm not promising that every day will be easy. I'm not saying that you always have to see yourself as beautiful. I sure as hell don't. But I am promising that your life will get better. How are you supposed to find something better from six feet in the ground. I can't lie right now, it's hard even typing this. But I do have things around me that I love, and take joy in. My music, my books, my writing. Things that aren't even my own. I take joy in the sun, in the snow, in a child laughing. I even take joy from seeing an older couple so in love, they don't even notice their ages. They just know they are in love, and that is enough.

Sometimes we're sad. Sometimes, we're not okay. And that's fine. Everyone puts pressure on each other to be happy all the damn time, but how many of us are always happy? We have to take the joy when we can, and hold on as long as we can, and hold on to the belief we will feel it again. Cause without that, what do we have left?
