"Mr. Matthews" Penny interjects from my intercom. I sigh, reaching across my desk to press the speaker button.
"Yes?" I ask in annoyance. I had a fundraiser I was busting my ass working on and I had told Penny not to interrupt me unless it was urgent. So the building better be on fire or someone better be dead.
"There's a Carrie out here. Says she wants to see you" she explains. I furrow my eyebrows. I had no idea who the hell Carrie was. How was this urgent?
"Don't know her."
"Yes I figured that but she-."
"Penny you had to pick up the fucking phone and call me even though you knew it wasn't urgent. Unless you're being held at gunpoint I see no reason as to why we're speaking."
"Right. Sorry Mr. Matthews" she apologizes before hanging up. I roll my eyes as I lean back in my car. Sometimes I really wish the women I brought home were clueless as to who I was, it would make their stalking just a little harder.
I sit back up and continue to run the numbers as I work towards a final budget for the annual Christmas Ball. It was our biggest and most successful event every year. Every cent went to hospitals in New York for families and their children.
"Mr. Matthews" Penny interjects again. I groan, pressing the speaker button aggressively.
"Jesus I swear to God Penny-."
"Your brother is here" she says making a smile pull at my lips. Having a Senator for a brother had it's perks when it came to my fundraisers. He got to campaign and I got to draw bigger crowds with larger wallets.
"Let him in" I reply, standing up to greet my brother as the door opens. He walks in with his very pregnant wife behind him. "Eric. Megan" I smile as I move around my desk.
"Hey little bro" Eric smiles, giving me a bro hug before I turn to his wife. They had been married since I was in college and they've been having kids often since then. This was baby number three.
"Megan" I smile at my sister-in-law.
"Hello Josh" she greets me politely. We share a brief hug before we pull apart and I turn my stare to my brother.
"So? How are things looking?" I ask hopefully.
"They're looking good" he assures me. "Stop worrying so much little brother" he insists as he moves around to my desk, taking a seat behind it. "You need to destress. We should go out tonight. Jack is in town too. We could make a night of it."
I roll my eyes. "Eric seriously? If I wanted to go out I'd call Drew."
"Then call Drew and the four of us will go" he insists as he stands back up. I sigh, watching him walk back to his wife, wrapping his arm around her. "Greenwich Pub. Ten o'clock" he says dismissively before turning on his heels and leaving my office.

"What about her?" Drew asks, pointing to a redhead wearing a skintight black mini dress. It left little to the imagination and I wasn't too pleased about it.
"Trying way too hard" I shake my head as I down the rest of my second beer. "I like a bit of a challenge" I remind him making him chuckle.
"Of course. How could I forget?" he rolls his eyes. I scan the crowd and a flash of blonde hair catches my eye.
"Damn" I mutter as I drink her in. Her blonde hair fell halfway down her back in sexy waves, her curves were accentuated by the deep red dress she was wearing and her legs were elongated by the pair of black stilettos on her feet.
