The desert was unforgiving in its scorching heat and relentless in its frigid nights, the cell where I was being kept was dusty and rats would scurry around it every now and then. I was being kept here with a pegasus knight named Est who kept crying over her foolishness and capture. In all honesty her whining and the heat was almost making me yell at her to just shut up and accept the fact that she screwed up. If it weren't for the shackles binding me to the wall and her being in the other side of the cell I would have hit that pink haired girl already. I was sent here after the mercenaries working with Deen told him and Grieth of a rumor going around the pirates that I planed to betray them. They then threw me in here along with the pink haired pegasus knight, so here I am chained up and locked away like some animal in Grieth's Citadel. We have been here for a few days and the pirates tasked to guard our cell would taunt and harass us about what they would do to us and how much money they will make by selling us. These men were sick and the only reason I ever worked for Grieth was out of convenience I needed the extra money and he was willing to pay for extra fighters. But upon realizing what he wanted me and the others for I wanted out.
I let out a sigh as I lean back against the stone wall, I already accepted my fate and there would only be worse consequences by struggling so closing my eyes I simply wait. I hear running down the stairs leading to the cell and one of the pirates stationed above yells out a warning to the two guards.
"We're under attack! Get ready for battle!" He yells out the command and goes back upstairs to fight whoever was attacking their base. The guards grab their weapons and leave quickly, leaving us behind and unguarded.
"Is somebody going to save us?" I hear Est ask, her voice hopeful as she looks in the direction where the guards left.
"Doubtful. They might not even know we're here and if they did well the chances of who ever it is surviving a direct attack to Grieth and his pirates is slim. Let just not get our hopes up." I tell her also looking in the direction the guard left. The chance may be slim but its better than nothing. The noises of steel hitting steel and the smell of smoke and ozone indicated the battle was intense. I could hear hooves stomping and the shouts of both opposing sides whenever they would get hurt were barely noticeable. The battle lasted for a few hours and after silence settled both Est and I held our breath, who won? There was movement coming from above and it appeared that they had split up, not more than ten minutes later two male figures came down to the basement with our cell and I tensed. Let it not be the guards, those dastards aren't even strong so I doubt they would survive a battle as intense as the one before unscathed let alone alive. In front of the cells now stood two mercenaries by the looks of it, a red haired eye patch wearing man and a younger man with black hair and a scarf. Then the pirates lost then, these people must be really strong then. The eye patch wearing man turns to face the stairs and calls out.
"The prisoners are down here lass." There is movement heading down the stairs and a young priestess with red hair walks down.
"Thank you Saber, that will be all. Head with the others and make sure there is no pirate still in the Citadel." She kindly asks and the man now known as Saber simply pats her head and replies before leaving.
"Alright lass but don't do anything reckless."
"I won't so don't worry so much Saber, Kamui open the cell please." The priestess tells the scarf wearing mercenary and as he opens the cell he releases Est but not me.
"Excuse me? I'm a prisoner too you know can you get me out too?" I ask indignantly.
"So sorry but we only came here to free the pegasus knight in behalf of her sisters. So no can do." The man infuriatingly replied with a smile.
"Kamui stop messing around and free her as well. She deserves freedom just as much as Est." The priestess orders Kamui. Shrugging he makes his way over to me and takes the shackles off.
"You're no fun priestess. I was only teasing." He lets out a chuckle as he releases the shackles around my wrist.
"Teasing or not if it weren't for me being tied down I would have punched you for that." I replied angrily, this guy's a jerk. A cute jerk but a jerk nonetheless.
"Well aren't you a feisty little thing. What do we do with her priestess?" Kamui asks the girl while she questions Est.
"We take her with us to and then we part ways. She's probably not even a warrior so it would be best to not involve civilians in our mission." The priestess states before resuming her questioning of Est.
